Hey All!

I always encourage reading in our household. It’s the one thing today that still allows a child to use their imaginations. They can create all the worlds they are reading about in their minds. If they are reading about superheroes, they too can become a superhero. That’s why I believe reading gives you superpowers! It gives you the power to believe you can be anything you want to be. We’ve been reading the Captain Underpants series and it truly sparks the imaginations of the little superheroes in our home. The book we are on is the twelfth novel by Dav Pilkey called “Capatin Underpants and the Sensational Saga of Sir Stinks-A-Lot“.Ā  It was released in stores on August 25th.

Here is a little about this book:

There’s something rotten in the state of Ohio, and it’s smellier than a pile of putrid gym socks! Steer clear–it’s Sir Stinks-A-Lot! George, Harold, and their doubles, Yesterday George and Yesterday Harold, have a good thing going. Two of them go to school, while the other two hide in the tree house and play video games all day–then they switch! But when their malicious gym teacher, Mr. Meaner, creates a method of mind control that turns their fellow students into attentive, obedient, perfect children, the future of all humanity will be in their hands!

In case you’ve never heard of this fantastic Scholastic book series, here is a little about the story of the entire series:

Best friends George Beard and Harold Hutchins are the unofficial class clowns of fourth grade. Thereā€™s nothing they love more than making comic books about a silly superhero named Captain Underpants. But now theyā€™ve accidentally transformed their mean school principal, Mr. Krupp, into Captain Underpants himself! Join George, Harold, and the Waistband Warrior as they fight for Truth, Justice, and all that is Pre-Shrunk and Cottony ā€“ and save the world, too!

The reason we love these books is they are part storybook and part comic! As you all know, we’re huge comic book geeks in our home.

It’s so much fun to read with kids as they always put in their own sound effects when they read books like these. There is nothing cuter than hearing a little voice go “Boom” and “Foosh,” as they read! To make reading this book even more fun, I decided to make and share with you a little fun DIY. It can turn your kids hands and arms into their own hand and arm puppets, so to speak.

You then peal back the plastic layer of the the sticky Tattoo glue that comes with your paper. Make sure your ink on your print out is dry, then you carefully place theĀ sticky Tattoo glue on your printed out paper to create the Tattoos.

Rub the two together so the Tattoo is created. You then cut out your images into individual Tattoos.

You then peal off the clear plastic and place the Tattoos onto your kids skin. You then tack a wet sponge or paper towel and make sure the paper is completely wet. The Tattoos should slide right off the paper and stick to the skin.
