Hey All!

I don’t know about you, but I have a few tricks up my sleeve when it comes to getting kids to go to sleep. When ever my nephew comes over, I pull my old tricks out of the bag in order to get him to sleep. My biggest trick that I’ve always found works like a charm is, reading a book before bed. I don’t mean reading the story to your child. I mean making the child talk about the book and tell you the story they are seeing themselves. Something about getting them to either read or use their little imaginations before bed. It instantly tires them out and puts them to sleep. We’ve been opening up our new favorite book The Little Elephant Who Wants to Fall Asleep for bed times as of late. I’m loving this adorable book! We have a thing aka obsession with elephants in my home and this book was a perfect fit for us.

The story is from Swedish author Carl-Johan ForssĆ©n Ehrlinā€™s who’s first book for children was The Rabbit Who Wants to Fall Asleep (2015). This is his second picture book and it has the same objective of helping children fall asleep and improving familiesā€™ bedtime routines with all-new child-tested, parent-approved techniques. It’s beautifully illustrated by Sydney Hanson and features Ellen the Elephant, who is on a journey through a magical forest that leads to sleep. Along the way, she meets different fantastical characters and has soothing experiences that are meant to help children relax and slip quickly into slumber. It works like a charm!

How-To-DIY-Recipes

You can make these elephants by sewing them or with out sewing them. I chose to no-sew them!

First you download and print out our FREE ELEPHANT TEMPLATE HERE! You cut out the template and use it as a guide to trace out and cut out your elephant pieces. Remember when you’re cutting out the bodies of the elephant, you’ll do one with the truck facing right and one with the truck facing left for each color elephant you make.

Once your pieces are all cut out, you glue the edges of the body together or sew the edges together. You leave a section open to stuff the elephants with pillow stuffing.

You flip the fabric inside out and stuff each elephant. You make sure they are nice and full and then seal up the open hole.

You then glue on the eyes, ears, and tail onto the back.
