Hey All!
Walmart hopes to eradicate hunger with your help by partnering with food brand suppliers Unilever, General Mills, ConAgra, Campbell’s, Kellogg’s, Kraft and Feeding America to reach a goal in providing 75 million meals to Feeding America Food Banks nationwide. If you buy hunger participating items at Walmart like Chef Boyardee or Manwich between April 6th & May 3rd you can make a difference and help the fight against hunger.
There are three ways you can participate as you shop at Walmart:
1. Purchase One item = 1 meal
2. From April 6 to May 3, you can give monetary donations of $1, $2, or $5 to your local Feeding America Food Bank at the register of any participating Walmart.
3. Social sharing the #WeSparkChange 1 time = 1 meal. It’s Easy, thoughtful, and fun. Round up your 6 friends, family or co-workers and share your smiles with us.
- Upload your photo to Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter
- Use the hashtag #WeSparkChange
- Make your photo “Public”
Walmart will donate $10, up to $1,500,000, to Feeding America for every post shared. Don’t forget to spread the word to your friends in the next 48 hours. Check out the Meal Counter at Walmart.com/FightHunger to see how many meals have been secured thus far!
I did my part by heading out to my local Walmart and buying some Chef Boyardee…
Some Ragu Pasta Sauce (Our Favorite Pasta Sauce)…
And some Manwich (for our sloppy joes) for me and my family. It’s great that buying brands we love and already plan on buying will help to make a difference to someone in need. We are so grateful for all that we have and it’s great to have the chance to give back by doing something small like shopping or sending out a social share.
In case you’ve never heard of Feeding America, It’s goal is to feed America’s hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and engage our country in the fight to end hunger. They do this by obtaining nutritious food to feed more people more often.
Feeding America has set a goal to source 3.6 billion meals annually by 2018–an increase of 1 billion meals over 2010. To accomplish this goal we are investing in the most cost efficient sources of healthy, in-demand food, including sourcing more fresh produce and increasing donations through retail stores.
