Our Spoiler Free Review Of Star Wars: The Force Awakens!

Star Wars Red Carpet

Hey All!

I had the incredible opportunity to attend the biggest premiere of my entire entertainment career this week and that was for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens. We shed a few tears when we found out we would be attending and getting to see this film for the first time with none other than George Lucas in the same building. I have been wanting to see an original Star Wars film, with the original cast in the film, on the big screen, since I was maybe 6 years old. This Star Wars obsession goes way back folks! I’ll share with you all about the premiere in another post, but I wanted to tell you all about the movie since everyone has been asking me how it was and was it good.

I have been counting the seconds until I saw this film and I can’t tell you what it feels like to have now seen it. It’s like I’ve been waiting for this moment my whole life and tears fell when the words “A Long Time Ago In A Galaxy Far Far Away” appeared on the big screen! I can’t tell you how sentimental it was to be sitting in the theater watching the Star Wars music blast and the opening crawl once again. I have never read every word of a Star Wars crawl so quickly IN MY LIFE. It was just sheer joy to be finally reuniting with these characters and story I love so much once again. Serious FIRST WORLD GEEK PROBLEMS! The easiest thing I can compare the feeling I felt is, it’s like Santa delivered a gift to me and let me open it early!

I will preface these thoughts on the film by saying two things. One, I’m 100% admitting I’m not the biggest J.J. Abrams fan. When I found out he was doing the films, I was nervous and scared for the movies. He is a very nice guy in person and a pleasure to meet, but I’m just not a big fan of his work. I was happy to hear the legendary Lawrence Kasdan had come on board to co-write the movie with J.J., as he wrote one of the best Star Wars films in the past. It eased my fears a bit.

And Two, I’m not going to tell you the plot of the movie or spoil anything for you, but I will say this…

My fears were put to rest when I saw this film and J.J. didn’t do a hack job on my beloved Star Wars. It was FUN with a capital FUN, highly entertaining, and nostalgic in all the right ways. There were also moments in the film are down right hilarious and moments that brought me to ugly tears.  Don’t forget your tissues folks! Anyone who sees it will enjoy it and no one will be disappointed or let down by anything in this film, well maybe some will. You can please everyone on such a highly anticipated film.

You can’t really go after any issues with this film, because this is freaken STAR WARS on the big screen and you get to see Han Solo and Pricess Leia (excuse me General Organa) together on the big screen for the first time in almost 40 years! This is a once in a life time experience and it is not to be missed! We should thank the maker and just be eternally grateful that we have new Star Wars movies again! It will invoke all sorts of giddy childhood emotions for you when you see it. I know it did in me. I have never been more happy in a movie theatre than watching this movie IN MY LIFE. It was a moment of awe and happiness at the same time and words can’t describe the joy I feel to have Star Wars back where it belongs, on the big screen. It’s incredible to finally know what happened after all these years with all our favorite beloved characters, well all except for the Ewoks. I pray the Ewoks will be in the next one. Wicket could be Leia’s little body guard! I need to know what happened to my beloved Wicket!

Let’s not forget you get to see Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker in the film as well. Yes, he is in the film, but I’m not going to tell you how! That’s the one spoiler I will give you.

You also get to see the Millennium Falcon do things you never dreamed it could do. It was so incredible to see it fly again with Han Solo and Chewie.

You get introduced to some new villains, like Kylo Ren who you will hate with a fiery passion by the end of this film. Adam Driver is sheer perfection in this role and is honestly one of the best young actors around. Every nuance in his performance was absolute perfection.

I love Gwendaline Christie and I want more Captain Phasma!!!!

John Boyega is beyond funny in this film and delivers his one liners perfectly. He is seriously a comedian and I had no idea he was this funny.

Both boys and girls will love and look up to Daisy Ridley’s character Rey. She is the perfect mix of a strong female lead and superhero in one. She’s brave, she’s sweet, she’s vulnerable, and she kicks some serious butt. And let’s not forget the scenes with BB-8 and R2-D2 and C-3P0. Another scene I got watery eyed for since I love them all with a passion as well.

It’s an action packed adventures that will leave you looking forward to the next film and all the Star Wars break away films to come. Disney has done an amazing job bringing this film saga back to the big screen and I can’t wait to see it again this week.

I’m doing a Star Wars Marathon of all the movies here in Los Angeles and I couldn’t be happier to see it again with my family and my fellow Star Wars nerds in this yet again once in a life time experience. It’s very rare to see a film you waited your whole life to see in not one, but two incredible ways. And I probably will shed a bunch of tears and have the time of my life seeing this film once again.
