Hey All!

If you’re looking for a film to see today you should definitely head out to the theater to see Strange Magic, a new animated film from Lucasfilm Ltd. It is a madcap fairy tale musical inspired by ā€œA Midsummer Night’s Dream.ā€ Popular songs from the past six decades help tell the tale of a colorful cast of goblins, elves, fairies and imps, and their hilarious misadventures sparked by the battle over a powerful potion. Lucasfilm Animation Singapore and Industrial Light & Magic bring to life the fanciful forest turned upside down with world-class animation and visual effects. It’s directed by Gary Rydstrom (ā€œToy Story Toons: Hawaiian Vacation,ā€ ā€œLiftedā€) and the story if from the mind of legendary film maker George Lucas.

The whole movie is about seeing something in a new way and looking past the obvious choices in life and love. Strange Magic welcomes an extraordinary roster of voice talent, including Alan Cumming (CBSā€™ ā€œThe Good Wife,ā€ Broadwayā€™s ā€œCabaretā€) as Bog King, Evan Rachel Wood (ā€œThe Ides of Marchā€) as feisty fairy Marianne, Elijah Kelley (ā€œHairspray,ā€ ā€œLee Danielsā€™ The Butlerā€) as lovelorn elf Sunny, newcomer Meredith Anne Bull as Marianneā€™s lovesick sister Dawn, Sam Palladio (ABCā€™s ā€œNashvilleā€) as heartbreaker Roland, Kristen Chenoweth (Broadwayā€™s ā€œWickedā€) as the potion-making Sugar Plum Fairy, Maya Rudolph (ā€œBig Hero 6,ā€ ā€œBridesmaidsā€) as Bogā€™s mum Griselda, Alfred Molina (ā€œChocolatā€) as the Fairy King, and Bob Einstein (HBOā€™s ā€œCurb Your Enthusiasmā€) and Peter Stormare (ā€œFargoā€) as Stuff and Thang, Bogā€™s loyal goblin assistants.

Well-known music producer Marius de Vries (Moulin Rouge) serves as both the musical director and composer, weaving together new versions of favorite songs from the last six decadesā€”including songs made famous by artists ranging from Mickey & Sylvia and Elvis Presley to Kelly Clarkson, BeyonceĢ and Lady Gaga. De Vries says he took Lucasā€™ lead when it came to the stylistic anchors of the filmā€™s music. ā€œEach of the kingdomsā€™ tribes is colored by a specific genre of pop music drawn from a very eclectic and diverse range of periods and styles, and woven into a narrative tapestry that still manages to feel coherent and emotionally logical.ā€

The music chosen for the film is spectacular! The cast sings the songs perfectly as well. The songs blend together perfectly to tell this magical love story.

The story is very sweet through out the film and I feel like they really nailed the message of everyone deserves to be loved and it doesn’t really matter whats on the outside. It’s what’s on the inside that really counts.

The characters are a delight to watch and it’s very family friendly. The animation is also visually stunning. The wings on the fairy are almost photo realistic in my opinion. They look almost exactly like real life butterfly wings. I was very impressed and in awe of the visuals and stylistic approach to the animation.

It’s a visually stunning film that will have you tapping your toes and singing along as you watch and route for love to over come all in this magical fairytale. It’s surely to cast a spell on you and your families heart if you go out to see it.

I highly recommend you see it as it’s from the mind of visionary Director George Lucas and he’s one amazing storyteller!
