This is part of a sponsored campaign with Latina Mom Bloggers and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. However, all opinions expressed are my own.

Hey All!

Did you know car crashes continue to be the leading cause of death for children ages two through six? Yes shocking I know! It’s surprising that most parents don’t know how to keep their kids safe while riding in cars or on their bikes. That’s why we educate ourselves and our kids with Chugginton and the “¡Piensa seguro, viaja seguro, mantente seguro!” site! It’s a Spanish-language public service program with an interactive website called www.chuggington.com/seguridad. The site provides child transportation safety guidance to families with young children. The program is brought to you by The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and Ludorum, the producers of the Chuggington™ television series.

It’s time to Think Safe, Ride Safe, and Be Safe with Chuggington!

Understanding that young children learn best when engaged, Chuggington and NHTSA have partnered to create a compelling traffic safety campaign that delivers important lessons to kids preschool-aged to 1st grade, all hosted by the ‘trainees’ of Chuggington, Wilson, Koko and Brewster! The lessons focus on four main areas: pedestrian, bus, bike and car seat safety.

Sometimes I have to sneak the information I want my kids to learn into their books so they can actually look at what I’m trying to show them. Luckily I actually have some Chuggington themed books that I could share with the kids. I put these coloring sheets inside that I printed off the “¡Piensa seguro, viaja seguro, mantente seguro!” site. I also showed them the website which they really enjoyed. Everything is fun on the laptop!

Child transportation safety and the resources offered by NHTSA and Chuggington via www.chuggington.com/seguridad can help parents and kids really learn the importance of keeping your kids safe when they ride. I can’t ride a bike but our kids can and we know how important it is for kids to be safe. We always make sure the kids are safe when they are riding their bikes. They have to wear their helmets, knee, and elbow pads when they ride. I’ve had first hand experience when people aren’t safe on their bikes. My uncle learned the hard way when he was riding his bike. He hit a pot hole in New York and went flying off his bike face first. He was not wearing a helmet or any pads. He needed full reconstructive surgery for his face. I never want to have my kids learn a lesson like he did. The lessons we focused on are safety for cyclists and on child safety seats. It’s also so important to properly install a child safety seat as you don’t want anything to happen to your child if there is an accident. So many people don’t have them properly installed. It’s good to know we do!

There are so many lessons you can learn on this site. I highly recommend it! “¡Piensa seguro, viaja seguro, mantente seguro!” or ‘Think Safe, Ride Safe, Be Safe!’ in English. The Spanish-language website www.chuggington.com/seguridad is an excellent resource for parents and fun destination for kids to learn while playing with their favorite Chuggington characters.

Everyone wants to keep their children safe from car crashes. But crashes can also happen on their bikes, as pedestrians, and as bus passengers. Teaching them practical tips could save them from serious injury or death. Visit www.chuggington.com/seguridad – a fun and informative Spanish-language website for both you and your kids.
