It’s summer travel time! We take a lot of road trips as a family during the summer to go visit family. It’s no secret traveling with kids at any age is difficult. They don’t like being cooped up in a car for hours getting from place to place. Every time we go on a road trip I make an entertainment checklist that consists of 3 sure fire ways we can keep the kids entertained during the trip.
Here are my 3 tips for keeping kids entertained as you travel!
1. If you’re traveling by plane or by car you have to make sure your kids are comfortable. If they aren’t comfortable in their chairs they will complain the entire time you are traveling. I recommend getting them some fun neck pillows like the Mickey and Minnie ones you see above as they will want to wear them since they have their favorite characters on them. This will also make it easier for them to fall asleep as they are watching their favorite Disney movies.
2. Have some travel games packed away that they can play with. They can open up the games on their lap desk or on just their lap and play for hours. We like travel games with magnets so the pieces don’t go flying around the car or plane if we hit a bump or turbulence. Having travel games your kids know and love are always a necessity for any trip. You can also play games with your kids that will allow you to connect with your kids more. Like a family sing a long to your favorite Disney song would be a perfect example. You can give each kid their own verse of the song to sing. Road trip games are always fun.
3. Movies and Entertainment are a must! If you don’t have a DVD player in your every day normal car (Like We Don’t) and of course there isn’t one on the plane you need to have another way for kids to watch their favorite movies. That’s why having an app like the Disney Movies Anywhere app is essential!
Here’s how the app works:
Once you download the app, sign up for the Disney Movies Anywhere, and connect your iTunes account, you are able to access streaming versions of Disney, Pixar, and Marvel movies when online or download them to your device for offline viewing.
Whether it’s a entering a code from a DVD/Blu-ray purchase or an iTunes digital download, your Disney library is now everywhere you are, anywhere you are, and instantly accessible with or without an internet connection on any iOS device (iPhone, iPad, iPad mini, and Apple TV). You can also buy movies right from the app itself if you decide your child wants to see something you don’t own! It’s an awesome app! And if you buy any movies on the app you earn Disney Movie Rewards points for every digital transaction. You can also pre-order movies that are currently in theaters or returning from the Disney vault. You can also feel secure as every movie purchase goes to a virtual locker with parental controls.
We connected it to our Disney Movie Rewards account and iTunes and all our movies that we have digital versions all pop up on our iPhones and iPads.
It breaks the movies down by kind of movie for example, Disney classic films or Disney animated films. It also breaks down the films you own in what it calls “My Collection” and “Favorites.” 
As you can see we have a lot of films in “My Collection” and “Favorites” that our kids can enjoy when we are traveling. They also have a feature called “Discover” which essentially does just that with films. It allows you to discover films you my not have in your collection yet.

This is a great option for families that don’t have a lot of storage room on their devices and have streaming capabilities with their providers!
These are great tips. I always make sure the boys have plenty to do so they don’t drive me nuts when we travel.
We always make sure to have plenty of activities available during our family trips. I look forward to downloading this app so my kids can watch a few of their Disney favorites on the go.
