On November 8th, 2013, Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World continues the big screen adventures of Thor, the Mightiest Avenger. This long anticipated sequel picks up in the aftermath of Marvel’s The Avengers. This is the second installation in Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In this film, Thor is fighting to restore order across the nine realms as an ancient race led by the vengeful Dark Elf Malekith returns to plunge the universe into eternal darkness. To defeat an enemy that not even Odin and the might of Asgard can match, Thor must forge an alliance with the treacherous Loki. Thor embarks upon his most dangerous and personal journey yet as the fate of his friends, Asgard, and the universe itself hangs in the balance.

As is what can be expected from the Marvel Universe, this film is a fantastic action adventure and here are some of the reasons you will enjoy it:

1. The amazing cast returns for this sequel

Returning are Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander, and Anthony Hopkins as Odin. New additions are Christopher Eccleston as the Dark Elf Malekith, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as his ally, and Zachary Levi as Fandral. This group of A-list actors continues to deliver the amazing performances that were set in the first film. Each actor brings their game to an even higher level for this second film. A special mention goes out to the excellent dynamic between Thor and Loki.

2. Loki is back!

Tom Hiddleston returns as the villain we helplessly love, Loki! Recruited by Thor, Loki must help stop the impending doom that awaits the universe. In Loki, Tom Hiddleston has created a charismatic and charming villain that always steals the show and Thor: the Dark World is no exception.

3. Thor: The Dark World has the Joss Whedon seal of approval!

It was reported that Alan Taylor (The Director of Thor: The Dark World) had shown the script to Joss Whedon (The Director of The Avengers) and Joss had given the film a thumbs up. This approval from Joss Whedon means that if you liked The Avengers, then Thor: The Dark World is going to be your cup of tea.

4. The special effects have been elevated to a new level!

As impressive as the visual effects in the first Thor film were, this second film blows them away! The film will take on more realistic effects that will have you at the edge of your seat. Some of the visual effects team from Marvel’s The Avengers have joined this film and it has helped to take the action sequences to a whole new level.

5. This film will tie into Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron!

It was anticipated that Iron Man 3 would be the first lead in to The Avengers: Age of Ultron, but it is actually Thor: The Dark World that will give you the first hints as to what Phase 2 is building towards.
