A DIY Football Straw & Our Tailgating Must Haves!

Coke-Tailgating-Foods

Hey All!

When tailgating aka football season comes around, I rejoice of course! Not because I’m a big sports fan, no sir! I rejoice because it’s another time of year in which I can plan some fun personal parties for me and my family. I’m the hostess with the mostess and I love to celebrate any occasion. I recently held one of our first tailgating parties of the season and we had a blast. I thought I would take this opportunity to showcase our fun party and also show you our tailgating party must haves. I’ll also show you how I made a fun DIY football straw to make our drinks for festive.

There are certain must have foods and drinks that we need to munch on during our sport season fiestas. First off, my family loves to drink CocaCola with our tailgating foods during the festivities. From family meals and activities, CocaCola can help celebrate moments that wouldn’t be as special without Coke. We always drink the CocaCola mini can and the CocaCola 8oz mini glass bottles. As you all know, I love all things mini with a passion! Everything is honestly better in mini size. The mini glass bottles are my particular favorite because they have such a cute retro Coke feel. When we pour an ice cold glass of Coke during our tailgating party, we can’t just sip them from some regular old straw. We have to have football themed straws of course!

To make these straws you’ll need:

  • Brown Cardstock
  • White Cardstock
  • Green Straws
  • Glue Dots
  • Craft Cutting Machine or Football Shaped Punch

I used my craft cutting machine to make the shapes of my football from the brown and white cardstock. If you don’t have a machine of your own, you can find a football shaped hole punch and cut them out that way.

I then used glue dots to stick the brown and white pieces together to create the football.

I then used another glue dot to stick the completed footballs onto the green straws. It’s super simple to make and it gives a fun little decoration to your tailgating drinks. Let’s not forget to mention how cute they are!

Now that I’ve covered our drinks, let’s move on to our must have foods! We have 4 main staples that we eat at every tailgating party.

The first would be Guacamole and chips.

Guacamole is like the best thing ever and it goes perfectly with our Coke drinks.

We also have Fried Chicken…

And Potato Wedges.

These are our special day tailgating comfort foods that we always have for our tailgating parties in addition to sipping our mini Coke bottles and cans. It’s not like we eat these foods every day, so it’s always a fun treat when we do.

It’s the perfect tailgating spread to enjoy as we watch our favorite teams.

To complete our tailgating fiesta, we always have to have something sweet for dessert. The perfect tasty treat has to be some amazing tailgating themed cupcakes.

Tailgating-Cupcakes-3

You can simply make some regular white or yellow cake cupcakes with green frosting. You can then top the cupcakes with fun shaped edible sugar footballs and…

Some plastic cupcake topper football helmets. Both you can buy online if you search for them for your own tailgating parties.

I’m all about sugary treats, so I think they go perfectly with a nice cold Coke.

Who wouldn’t want a coke and an adorable cupcake? I know I would.
