Coming Home for Nyc’s Real Heroes, Tribeca, & The Avengers! #theAvengersevent #avengers

Hey All!

As you all know I was chosen to head back home to my amazing home town NYC to attend the movie I’ve been waiting my whole life to see grace the silver screen at the Tribeca closing the Film Festival for Marvel’s The Avengers! It truly was a weekend to remember as this particular event for the film since this Closing Night of the Tribeca Film Festival also honored the real heroes of New York such as in the Fire Fighters, NYPD, and Military some who were the 1st responders on 911. They are the ones who keep my great home town safe every day! I’m so thankful to these true life heroes as I’m a born and raised New Yorker and my family and I lived through 911. It was so nice to see they were invited to attend the film event to be honored.

It felt good to be home and amazing to walk the red carpet.

As soon as I stepped foot on that red carpet I knew I was in store for a night to remember. I couldn’t believe I was there and that I was home and home to see a movie I’ve been dying to see since I first picked up my first Marvel comic when I was a kid.

The red carpet was filled with amazing stars that I idolize like Michael J. Fox! Yes Marty McFly himself was there! I almost cried!

It was so great to see the cast take the time to also thank the real heroes!

They also thanked and greeted the fans who were probably waiting for hours outside just to get a glimpse of their favorite Avengers! It’s so nice to see that they appreciate the fans who support the film and who were basically championing this movie to get made.

Tom Hiddleston who plays Loki and who I got to meet really does love the fans and I can see why all the fans would want to join Team Loki! He’s amazingly kind and such a perfect gentleman!

I did my best to show my geek pride on the red carpet. I felt like I had to represent all the geek girls who love comics when I was on the red carpet. As you can see in the pics below I’m rocking my Captain America nails,  Avengers buttons, Avengers Shoes, and Captain America Iphone Case. All just hints of geek since I tried to keep it classy!

Besides Michael J. Fox and various cast members of SNL and from the actual film it was nice to see New York staple celebrities at this event! Like Bobby D aka Robert Deniro! He’s co-founder of the Tribeca Film Festival so I knew he would be there.

Look who else was there and caught Cobie Smulders eye!

Do you remember that mini Captain America from the video I posted in my previous post where his dad had just come back from active duty and he dressed up like Captain America and surprised his son? Here is the video to jog your memory.

He was so adorable on the red carpet! He even put up his hand and yelled Avengers Assemble! I loved this kid!

We finally got through the red carpet and made it inside. The cast took the stage and thanked the real heroes of the city. It was a really touching moment to experience for me in particular.

There are no words to describe how good this movie was. Wait I’m going to have to come up with some since I’m going to have to give you a review. So stay tuned for my play by play of my thoughts on the film! Be Warned it may contain some spoilers!

After the screening I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to the men who helped save my life on 911. I tried not to let my emotions get the best of me while I was on the red carpet.

The whole team of heroes came out of the theater and were kind enough to take a group shot with all of us mommy bloggers.

It was a night that I will always remember and I’ll be forever grateful to Disney and Marvel for allowing me to experience it in a place I love NYC! It was great to be back home to see this film and it just felt like the right place to see it for the first time. I’ve been going to Tribeca since it first began so it really felt like coming home to see The Avengers at this amazing festival.

Stay tuned for all my The Avengers coverage that will have interviews with Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and Cobie Smulders (SHIELD Agent Maria Hill) and you’ll want to check out my geektastic review of The Avengers!

RUN OUT and get your tickets NOW for The Avengers as it comes out MAY 4TH!

Disclosure: I was not compensated in any way for this post. I received an all expense paid trip as a guest of Disney/Marvel for The Avengers. All opinions are my own.
