- Silicone Shot Glass Mold
- Scissors
- Black Rope Laces Licorice
- Microwave Safe Glasses to Melt Chocolate
- Pastry Decorating Bags
- Awl
- Wax Paper
- Rice Paper
- Food Coloring Markers
- And this Free Printable template to make the round tops of the firecrackers with!
First you melt your chocolate candy melts in a microwave safe glass the microwave for one minute at a time. You put them in for one minute, stir, and then put them in for another minute until chocolates are completely melted. Once you have your melted red and blue chocolate, you’ll pour it into some pastry decorating bags. This give you more control as you pipe the chocolate into the silicone shot glass mold.
You carefully use your red and blue chocolate filled pastry bags to fill in the cavities of the shot glass mold. I did 4 blue and 4 red. Once you have your mold completely filled with chocolate, you then put it in the refrigerator to harden. If you want to to harden quickly, you can put it in the freezer. Next you print out your Free Printable template and use it as a guide to make chocolate circle tops for your chocolate shot glasses. You place it under some wax paper and make some chocolate circles.
Before the chocolate circles fully harden, use your Awl to make a hole in the middle of the chocolate circles. This is what you’ll pull your black licorice rope through.
Place your chocolate circle tops in the refrigerator or freezer so they can harden. You then pull out your hardened chocolate shot glasses. They will only pop out of the mold easily if they are completely hardened. Do not take them out of the mold before they have hardened.
Fill your chocolate shot glasses with your Post Fruity Pebbles Cereal. Take out your circle discs once they have hardened. Use your scissors to cut them down to size if you made them too big for your shot glass.
Next cut a two and half inch long piece of black rope licorice with your scissors and pull it through the chocolate circle topper for your shot glass.
Pipe some chocolate onto the rim of the shot glass and place the circle topper with the licorice on to of the shot glass. Move fast to smooth out the chocolate so it’s becomes one solid seem free firecracker.
You repeat the process for all your chocolate Fruity Pebbles filled firecrackers.
You want to make them as smooth and clean as possible on all sides, so that they look like firecrackers.
You then serve and enjoy! You can use a little hammer to crack open your firecrackers.
The Fruity Pebbles will just pour out like confetti. It’s so much fun to eat!
You can leave them as is and serve, or you can take it up a notch by adding a little flame to the firecracker wick.
All you need is some rice paper, some red, orange, and yellow food coloring pens and your scissors to make a little flame to attach to your firecrackers.
Just draw a red tear drop layer, then an orange and lastly a yellow layer to create the flame. Cut it out with your scissors and stick it on to your licorice firecracker wick with some chocolate left over in your pastry decorating bags.
It’s the perfect little festive July 4th treat!
