DIY Edible Minions Christmas Ornaments!

This post is in partnership with Universal Pictures Home Entertainment!

Hey All!

The holidays are here and Iā€™m so excited to have some fun at home relaxing with my family. During this time of year, there is nothing I love more than staying home, making some tasty treats and watching some of our favorite movies. Thankfully DespicableĀ MeĀ 3 Special Edition, is now available onĀ Blu-rayĀ &Ā DVD, since it was one of our favorite movies this year. In honor of it being released, I thought I would make some cute DIY Edible Minions Christmas Ornaments to enjoy with it as we watch it this holiday season. Nothing is cuter than some festive Minions!

These are probably the cutest edible Minions Iā€™ve ever made!

In case you didnā€™t know, this movie was the #1 animated comedy of the year andĀ it is the ultimate holiday gift with an All-New Mini Movie, Minion Moments and more!

If you havenā€™t seen it yet, Gru, his wife Lucy, their three adorable daughtersā€”Margo, Edith and Agnesā€”and the Minions provideĀ hours of family fun in this heartwarming comedy. The whole family will love it if you loved the previous movies!

You can also check out the trailer below if you havenā€™t seen the film:

We were lucky to get the awesome Target exclusive, thatĀ not only features an all-new mini-movie, but so much more including 20 mins of additional content, collectible cards featuring your favoriteĀ DespicableĀ MeĀ characters, and fun Minion temporary tattoos! Target always gets the best home entertainment releases! Itā€™s my home away from home! I digressā€¦

How cute are these Minions ornaments folks? Too cute! Here is how to make them, so you can enjoy them with your family as you watch DespicableĀ MeĀ 3!

First you use your round cookie cutter as a template to cut out your pill shaped Rice Krispies Minions. Cut out as many as youā€™d like to make.

Use a thick straw to cut out a circle from the top of the Rice Krispies pill shapes, so you can have a hole to pull your ribbons through.

Next, roll out some white fondant and make circle shapes and rectangular side pieces out of them for the Minions goggles.

Spray the pieces with edible silver color mist paint and let them dry completely.

Youā€™ll then pull your ribbon through the hole in your Rice Krispies treats and roll out your yellow fondant. Youā€™ll place some white or yellow icing on the Rice Krispies treat and roll the yellow fondant over the icing and treat. Youā€™ll smooth it down with your fondant smoother and cut off any excess with your knife tool.

Youā€™ll then roll out some red and white fondant and use your knife tool to cut out some Santa hats. Use your Ā½ inch cookie cutter to cut out little round circles for the balls on the hat. Stick them together with some water and let them dry and harden.

Once they are hard and all the other pieces are dry, you can begin to assemble your Minions ornaments. Place one hat on each Minion with some reindeer antlers. You can put the antlers facing up or down. I did a mix of both!

You then place an eyeball or two eyeballs on the Minions with some white icing, followed by the silver goggle pieces with some yellow icing.

You then drawn on some pants or a sweater with your red icing and a mouth with the black icing. Lastly, you place a little holiday decoration on the center of the pants or sweater. You can place other decorations in this area as well.

Place a little holly decoration on the Santa hat with some white icing and then let them dry and harden.

You repeat the process for each of the Minions you make!

Youā€™ll have a variety of 1 eyed and 2 eyed Minion edible ornaments.

Thatā€™s all you have to do to make these super cute Minions Christmas ornaments!

I love how they came out and my family is obsessed with them too!

You can make as many Minions for your Christmas tree as youā€™d like.

They make for some super fun and colorful ornaments.

You can also wrap them in some treat bags before you hang them to keep them fresh.

If you plan to eat them same day, just hang and enjoy as you put on Despicable Me 3!

They look perfect on our tree and they are beyond tasty too!

They are the perfect treat to enjoy watching Despicable Me 3 with for the holidays!

My kiddos favorite character right now is the minions. This would be a perfect little idea for him. We cannot put them on the tree because my dog would eat them but it would still be fun to make them with him.

Those Minions are works of art too good to eat, but we will. I think the movie would be a keeper when it comes to family movie night this season, and if I have a minute I will make the Minions.
