DIY Lisa Frank Inspired Witch Cat Halloween Costume!

Hey All!

I’m hitting you with another throwback Halloween DIY today, that is of course Lisa Frank inspired! While I was cleaning my house recently, I found this package of vintage Lisa Frank Hallowen Party invitations with the cutest little kitten dressed up like a witch with a pink witch hat with rainbow bow. She’s also wearing a rainbow cape. The second I saw this, I knew I wanted to turn it into a Halloween costume and I did! Behold my DIY Lisa Frank Inspired Witch Cat Halloween Costume! It’s so fun and easy to make. Probably one of the easiest Halloween costumes I’ve ever made!

You know you want to be a sassy little witch cat for Halloween?

I mean the rainbow cape alone makes it worth it! Here is how to make it!

  • I got this purple dress on Amazon for only $15! I threw it on over a pink dress I was wearing to save time!
  • I got this amazing rainbow fabric on Etsy, which I love! Get as much as you need to cover your body. I got around 2 yards for the cape and hat bow.
  • I got the Pink Pumpkin from Walmart for $1!
  • I got this pink glitter witch hat from Walmart for only $4!
  • Hot Pink and Purple Felt.
  • Hot Glue Gun.
  • These Lisa Frank Logo Stickers which you can find HERE and HERE! I used the largest one.
  • White and hot pink Craft Foam.
  • Small White Paper Plate.
  • Stapler
  • Rubber Band
  • Scissors
  • And a bar pin back!
  • And if you want the same pink shoes they’re from Target and I love them!

First you cut your rainbow fabric down to size so it fits your body and it’s not so long that it drags on the floor. Cut two strips not completely off on the side of the fabric that you deem the top. This will be how you tie your rainbow cape on. Cut it down so it’s two short strips still attached.

You then use the scrap pieces you cut off your fabric to make your witch hat. Wrap one piece around the pink glitter witch hat and glue the ends together in the back of the hat with your hot glue gun. Put a tiny bit of glue on the inside, so it’s secure to the had. Place one piece of fabric flapped over itself and the bunch it together in the middle to create a bow shape. Take a small piece of fabric and wrap it around the middle tightly, so it secures the bow shape. Glue the piece of fabric end to the bow. Lastly you glue the bow onto the rainbow piece of fabric wrapped around the witch hat.

You then cut out two large and two slightly smaller tear drop shapes from your purple and hot pink felt. Glue one on top of the other. This make your cat ears. Glue the ears to the hat and your cat witch hat is done.

I made some cat whiskers by cutting out pieces of hot pink felt and a heart piece and oval piece for the nose and tongue.    I cut a small white place down to look like the shape of the month and whiskers, glue the hot pink felt strips I cut to make the whiskers onto it and the heart nose piece and tongue. I then stapled a rubber band to it to make a whiskers mask.

I took the Lisa Frank logo stickers I got and stuck it on to a piece of white foam, so it was more sturdy. I cut the foam to match the sticker. I placed some glue behind the sticker, since these stickers are old and don’t stick well. I then glue a bar pin back to make a giant Lisa Frank Logo pin to wear on the costume.

To make the cat tail, I simply cut out a tail shape from the purple fabric with some strips of hot pink fabric. I cut out a white piece of felt and cut it down to match the size of the tip of my tail piece. I glued all the pieces together like you see above and glued a bar pin back to the back of the tail and pinned it on. Remember not to pin it on to low on your back, as you don’t want to sit on a pin out of precaution.

That’s it! You’re done! You made yourself into a cute Lisa Frank inspired witch cat!

Let your rainbow capes soar!

It’s such a fun costume to wear and I guarantee you’ll be playing with that rainbow cape non-stop! Pair it with a pink pumpkin and some cute pink bow shoes and you’re ready to get all that candy on the block! Give me all that candy!

I hope you love this fun and easy to make throwback Lisa Frank inspired Halloween costume as much as I do!
