Hey All! In honor of one of my favorite movies Muppets: Most Wanted coming out on Bluray Combo Pack and Digital HD August 12th at Disney.com, I decided to make some Mini Muppet Piñatas! How else would we celebrate than with some confetti, candy and Piñatas! I love the way they came out and they weren’t that difficult to make. They did however take some time to make. To make these adorable Mini Muppet Piñatas you’ll need:
- Some Mini Shaped Cardboard boxes which I got on Oriental Trading
- Peach, Orange, and Green Streamers or Crepe Paper
- Pink, White, Orange, Red, and Black Card Stock
- Orange feather Boa
- Glue or Glue Stick
- Whole Punches/ Or Craft Cutting Machine
- Clear tape
- Duck Tape
- Scissors
- Fringe Scissors
- String
- Candy
- Awl tool
First I started by making each piece that I’d need to assemble my Muppet Piñatas. I started by fringing all my streamers and crepe paper with my fringe scissors. Yes it does take some time depending on how full you want your Piñata fringe to look. I then punched out and cut all the circles, lines and ovals I’d need for the eyes, mouths, and noses. I got my Muppet candy out as what other candy would I use. Once I had everything ready I began to assemble my piñatas. I started with Beaker as he is probably the most difficult to make. I made sure the candy fit inside the box. I used a rectangular box as Beaker has an oval like face. You could then use your Awl tool to punch a whole into the the top of the box and pull a knotted string through. Or you can skip this step. You then seal the candy inside with some duck tape. Then you begin to glue on your fringe. You start at the bottom and work your way up. I use a combination of regular glue and a glue stick. You cover the entire box with fringe and let it dry for a few minutes. You then proceeded to glue on the eyes and nose. You then glue the eye dots, mouths, and feather hair on. I also used some clear tape to hold the feathers in place. That’s it your done with Beaker. With Kermit I did the same process except I did use the Awl to punch a hole at the top of the box so I could hang him. I also used a heart shaped box. You tie your string with a triple knot so the knot doesn’t pop through the hole you made. You then pull the string through the hole. After you got your string through, you place your candy inside, seal the box, and then proceed to fringe the box and add the eyes and mouth. For Fozzie I used a round box and did the same process I did for Kermit as I wanted to hang my Fozzie. When your done, it’s so worth it as you’re left with these adorable mini piñatas to enjoy! Your kids will love them when you bring home your Muppets: Most Wanted BluRay! You can hang them… Lay them down like a place setting… Or just bask in their adorableness until you tear them open to get the candy out. But they are so cute you may not want to destroy them. It’s an easy and fun craft that you can easily do at home. You just need some time and dedication to make these. Again Muppets Most Wanted is available on Bluray Combo Pack and Digital HD August 12th at Disney.com! Here is a little about the film in case you haven’t seen it:
There’s plenty of fun for the whole family as Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Animal and the entire Muppets gang head out on a world tour. But mayhem follows the Muppets, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper. Now Kermit is behind bars at the mercy of prison warden Nadya (Tina Fey), and the World’s Number One Criminal, Constantine—a dead ringer for Kermit—has taken his place. As Constantine and his dastardly sidekick Dominic (Ricky Gervais) plot the robbery of the century, they are pursued by Sam Eagle and Interpol agent Jean Pierre Napoleon (Ty Burrell). Will Constantine get away with his nefarious scheme? Will Kermit escape in time to save the day?
