Looking for the perfect easy treat to enjoy for May the 4th Star Wars Day? Check out these DIY Lightsaber Churros!
Hey All!
Looking for some fun and easy to make Star Wars themed treats to enjoy for Star Wars day or any day to be honest? Check out these DIY Red Lightsaber Churros! As soon as I saw these on the Disney Parks Blog, I knew I wanted to make these at home!
I knew I could make these at home! I’ve always wanted one every time they offer them at Disney World, but sadly I’m not flying to Disney World to get one and sadly Disneyland usually doesn’t have them for some reason.
So my only option was to make some myself. I tried to match the flavor of the ones in the park too and added my own little twist.
Here is how I made them!
- Tio Pepe’s Frozen Churros From Smart and Final or you can order them online HERE or you can make your own Churros with THIS MIX!
- Red Jolly Ranchers
- Red Sanding Sugar
- Red Pop Rocks
- Food Processor
- White Cardstock
- Printer
- Scissor
- Clear Magic Tape
- This Free Printable Light Saber Handle
First you print out and cut out this Free Printable Light Saber Handle! That’s what makes it look like a lightsaber and also keeps your hands clean as you eat it.
You just print it out on some white cardstock, cut it out like you see below…
And roll them up and tape the seem shut at the back to make the handle.
Super simple I know! Then you make your churros! I got the Tio Pepe’s Frozen Churros From Smart and Final, which are the same churros they apparently use in the parks. They taste amazing and you get a ton in a box! You can find them in the freezer section at Smart and Final or online at the links I shared above.
You can also make your own churros of course. How ever you make your churros, just make sure they are at least 10 inches long. Once you have your churros cooked up, you then start to make them red!
I crushed some cherry red jolly ranchers in a food processor until it was like a powder. I sprinkled that powder onto the churros to make them red. I then sprinkled the red sanding sugar and red cherry pop rocks onto the churro.
This give them their bright red color and that similar park flavor, from what I hear!
You slip the red churro into your lightsaber handle and your done!
Enjoy and May the 4th Be With You!
Hope you love these as much as I do!
