Hey All!
Valentine’s Day is only a few days away. It’s time to celebrate the day of love. To help me celebrate I thought up with the help of Heidi from the fabulous shop idiehdesign.com some cute DIY VALENTINE’S DAY CANDY POPPERS for the occasion. I know poppers usually have confetti and other non-edible things inside, but I figured it’s Valentine’s Day and I want candy! Why not turn these poppers into little self serve piñatas filled with tasty treats. I digress…
Heidi is an amazing designer and she offers such adorable products on her online shop idiehdesign.com. You definitely need to check it out as she offers everything from iPhone cases to Notepads. Heidi was kind enough to make us a fun FREE Printable that has the most adorable HEARTS with special messages to include inside our poppers for Valentine’s Day! They are the perfect addition and truly complete the poppers.
Here designs and style are completely unique. We share lots of the same ideas and she’s my new Shop Bando twinzie.
I can gush about her for days, but lets move on to how to make these fabulous poppers!
To Make The Poppers You’ll Need Everything Seen Above:
- Scissors
- Martha Stewart Fringe Scissors
- Crepe Paper Rolls in Red and Pink Colors
- Heart Stickers (I got mine from Inspire Lovely)
- Toilet Paper and Paper Towel Inner rolls (I hoarded these for weeks)
- Assortment of Ribbons
- Sparkler Wants from Tops Malibu
- Double sided tape and regular tape
- An assortment of candy. (We got most of our candy from a shop called Sugarfina)
- Tray to sort candy to make almost an assembly line. (I used a ceramic egg tray)
- Assortment of sparklers
And…
This amazing HEART MESSAGE FREE PRINTABLE that you can DOWNLOAD HERE!
These do take about an hour to make if you’re making over four. I like to have everything sorted so I can just grab and keep moving as I make each one.
First print out our fabulous FREE printable.
Cut the hearts out and set them in a pile next to everything else you will be putting inside your poppers.
Cut strips of your ribbons in the length you desire and place them neatly in a pile as well. You will thank me later when you have everything you need organized in this little assembly line.
If you’re making a paper towel roll sized cut a partial slit down the middle of the cardboard roll so it’s easy to pull apart.
Place two long pieces of double stick tape and regular tape on each side of the cardboard paper towel roll. Do not put any tap over the slit area. The tap will secure the crepe paper in place.
You then tie one end of the crepe paper shut with your ribbon and use the Martha Stewart Fringe Scissors to frill up the end of the popper.
You then add a heart sticker to the center of the roll. I put some double sided tape behind the sticker to secure it.
You then start filling it with our free printable hearts…
And your assortment of candy.
You tie the other end of the popper and you have yourself a fabulous mega popper as I call it. I think it’s adorable.
You then proceed with your smaller toilet paper sized rolls, only with these you don’t need to cut them in half. You roll it into the crepe paper whole with your double sided tape and regular tape.
You then fill it with your free printable hearts and other items of your choice.
And then you have a mini popper! I love how they came out.
My favorite that I made are these black and white and fushia poppers. All the popper colors were inspired by the idiehdesign.com site logo. I LOVE THEM don’t you?
It was almost to hard to break them since they were so cute, but I had to show you how they pop!
When you pull both sides of the large mega popper all the goodies inside pop out.
Grab the ends of the small poppers and pull! And that’s how you celebrate with poppers! Enjoy the goodies inside!
As you can see one pink popper survived!
These are so much fun to make and use for Valentine’s Day! They do take a little bit of time to make, but they are so worth it in the end!
