Easy Swirl Frosted Halloween Cupcakes!

Ingredients
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • Ingredients as listed on the back of the cake mix box
  • Muffin pan
  • cupcake liners
  • 3 C unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
  • 6 C powdered sugar
  • 5-7 tbsp. heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3-5 drops of black gel food coloring
  • 2-4 drops of orange gel food coloring
  • 1 disposable piping bag with medium star tip
  • 1 medium ice cream scooper
  • 3 C of the halloween sprinkles
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven as per directions on the box,
  2. Put the liners in the muffin pan. Set aside.
  3. Following the directions add ingredients.
  4. Mix all ingredients as instructed.
  5. Fill cupcake liners ⅔ full.
  6. Put in the oven and bake for 22 minutes.
  7. Check for doneness. ( Insert a toothpick into the center of a cupcake, it should come out clean.)
  8. If they are not done, check again every three minutes until they are done.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow to cool.Transfer to a cooling rack and allow to cool completely before frosting.
  10. Using a standing mixer combine the butter, powdered sugar, heavy
  11. whipping cream, vanilla, and mix on medium speed until combined and smooth
  12. Set aside ½ C of frosting in 1 bowl and mix until combined a few drops of the orange gel food coloring
  13. Set aside another ½ C of frosting in the 2nd bowl and leave this one white
  14. Scoop the orange frosting onto one side of the piping bag
  15. Scoop the white frosting onto the second side of the piping bag and set aside
  16. Beat in the black gel food coloring into the remaining frosting
  17. Using the black frosting, scoop a small amount into the ice cream
  18. scooper and place onto the top of the cupcake and spread slightly into a thick disk
  19. Pour the Halloween sprinkles into a deep bowl
  20. Dip the top of the cupcake frosting into the sprinkles
  21. Using the piping bag, pipe the orange and white frosting onto the top
  22. of the sprinkles
