Eggland’s Best Support Breast Cancer Awareness & You should too!

Hey All!

As you all know it’s Breast Cancer awareness month! I have known a few people in my life who have died from this terrible disease so I am so happy to share with you that Eggland’s Best is once again supporting Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the world’s largest breast cancer advocacy organization and the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer.

Through November 15, 2011, Eggland’s Best will feature the signature “EB” stamp with the Susan G. Komen Running Ribbon on all varieties of EB farm fresh eggs.  We will also be donating $50,000 to support Susan G. Komen in their pledge to end breast cancer forever. How amazing is that? And is it just me, but I think the stamp is adorable.

Eggland’s Best is America’s #1 Egg.  Over the next few months, millions of cartons of Eggland’s Best Pink Dozen eggs with the Komen Running Ribbon will be sold throughout the United States.  These special eggs will bring increased awareness to this very important cause.

The 2011 Komen Campaign message is “Less Talk. More Action.” With the goal of encouraging women to take their health into their own hands and get screened.

Eggland’s Best eggs are a great way to source all-natural nutrients that are important for improving overall health and wellness.

How are EB Eggs more nutritious than ordinary eggs?

All Eggland’s Best eggs are produced by hens that are fed an all-natural, all-vegetarian diet of healthy grains, canola oil, and an all-natural supplement of rice bran, alfalfa, sea kelp and Vitamin E. The feed contains no animal fat, no animal by-products, and no recycled or processed food. Eggland’s Best never uses hormones, steroids, or antibiotics of any kind.

Because of the superior nutritional benefits of EB eggs, the American Dietetic Association and American Diabetic Association have granted Eggland’s Best permission to carry exchange list information on all of our cartons. One EB egg can be exchanged for one medium-fat meat.

Eggland’s Best eggs are also certified by the American Vegetarian Association (AVA) because of EB’s all- natural, vegetarian hen feed. The AVA certification indicates that EB eggs meet the goodness, quality, and manufacturing practices in strict adherence to the standards of AVA vegetarian guidelines.

How are Eggland’s Best eggs important to an overall healthy diet?

Compared to ordinary eggs, each Eggland’s Best large egg contains:
•    10 times more Vitamin E •    3 times more Vitamin B12 •    2 times more Vitamin D •    Double the Omega-3 •    35% more lutein •    25% less saturated fat.

In addition, one Eggland’s Best large egg has 175mg of cholesterol and is a good source of Vitamin B2. Eggland’s Best eggs also give you 10% of the daily recommended intake of folate, and give you 40% of the daily recommended intake of iodine, compared to just 15% in ordinary eggs.

How can I help protect myself against diseases, such as breast cancer?

Studies have shown that maintaining a healthy lifestyle may help reduce the risk of developing cancer, as well as reducing your risk of developing cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis and other diseases!

To lead a healthy lifestyle, and possibly reduce the risk of breast cancer and other diseases, it is recommended to take the following steps:

•    Add exercise and physical activity to your daily routine •    Maintain a healthy weight •    Limit alcohol intake •    Eat a balanced diet of healthy foods, including fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, dairy and whole grains.

How can the nutrition of EB eggs help protect against diseases?

Studies suggest that antioxidants may prevent the free radical damage to our body cells that is sometimes associated with the development of cancer. Antioxidants are obtained by eating a healthy diet. Eggland’s Best eggs provide a significant source of certain antioxidants including Vitamin A, Vitamin E, and lutein. EB eggs also have higher concentration of folate and iodine. Studies suggest that folate and iodine may also contribute to reducing the risk of developing cancer.

I happen to only buy EB eggs for my family so I am happy to be able to support a cause that is dear to me with a brand I love!
