Fun Facts With The Cast & Filmmakers of Frozen 2!

I was invited by Disney Animation to cover the “Frozen 2” press junket. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Hey All!

I recently invited to attend the amazing Hollywood press junket for the latest Disney Animation blockbuster Frozen 2! I was thrilled to attend and hear so many of my favorite actors and filmmakers had to share about the film. They had many fun behind-the-scenes stories to share. It was also a day of singing power ballads with the cast and lots of laughter all around. I had one of the best times ever at a press junket. I put together a few fun facts that I learned about the film and about the actors while at the press junket. Here is a little of what they had to say.

But first, if you’re not familiar with the premise of Frozen 2, here is a little about this new film:

Why was Elsa born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she’ll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen 2,” she must hope they are enough. From the Academy Award®-winning team—directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, producer Peter Del Vecho and songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez—and featuring the voices of Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad.

What was it like for the cast and filmmakers to return to the characters and story of Frozen? They feel like they’ve never left the story as they’ve still been performing the songs and making short Frozen themed stories since the last film came out.

Idina Menzel stated:

“I’m singing the music from it all the time, all over the world, and looking out into an audience and seeing people of all ages, really, singing this music and reminding me how they’ve been touched by it and how they’ve learned to celebrate that thing inside them that makes them feel extraordinary in the world.”

Kristen Bell shared she feels a strong connection to her character, Anna.

“I’m very similar to Anna…I tried to infuse, like, a ton of me into this character, maybe more so than I’ve ever done.”

Josh Gad, the voice of Olaf shared his pride of being in the films:

“The coolest part about watching ‘Frozen,’ and then ‘Frozen 2,’ with my daughters, is they have as their role models. That is just the most incredible part of this journey. I get to share this with two girls who get to look up to two fiercely independent Disney princesses who, I think, are changing the way we view what a princess is, and I love that.”

Jonathan Groff, who plays Kristoff, shared he finally gets his own solo song with “Lost in the Woods”. It’s a soaring power ballad reminiscent of the power ballads of the 80’s and 90’s.

Kristen Bell was thrilled he finally got a solo song!

“Jonathan has, dare I say—I mean, it’s very difficult to describe and I don’t want to blow it—but…it’s one of the top three moments of the film.”

Josh Gad added:

“I think it’s the funniest song in Disney Animation history.”

The cast then broke out into singing some of Bryan Adams We’re in Heaven! It was hilarious.

The song writers Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez shared that their inspiration was that song and the power ballads of that time. They also shared that they didn’t approach “Frozen 2” with the goal of topping the musical success of the first film.

“We never think about hits or anything like that when we write. We just try to go where the story takes us.”

The songwriters also shared that when they write music, they think of Idina’s voice and the power of it. They write for the power in her voice.

At the end of the junket, whomever was in charge of the sound actually began playing Bryan Adams We’re In Heaven over the speaker system and the whole cast and filmmakers and the entire room broke out into song. I was singing too! You can see the video below on my Instagram post by scrolling right. It was hilarious as Josh Gad began to belt out the song.

Those are just a few fun facts from the press junket! I hope you enjoyed them!
