Giving Thanks During Thank-o-Rama!

Hey All!

Iā€™m thrilled to once again partner with Disney Book Group to celebrate their annual month long celebration with Mo Willems called Thank-O-Rama. If youā€™re not familiar with Thank-O-Rama, it is a fun celebration in May that is derived from the final book in the Elephant & Piggie series, The Thank You Book by Mo Willems Itā€™s a celebration of being thankful!

I love this annual celebration, as itā€™s a reminder to show thanks for all those in your life. Iā€™m always mindful of being thankful and grateful for all that I have in my life. Iā€™m teaching my son to be the same way as well. Itā€™s something that Iā€™ve had to work on A LOT, especially after starting a career as a blogger.

Itā€™s very easy to compare yourself to others success and to not be grateful for all that you have. The F.O.M.O is real folks and itā€™s something that Iā€™ve struggled with for some time. Itā€™s nice to get a month long reminder to snap out of it and get back to being grateful and thankful for anything and everything. Iā€™m beyond thankful for opportunities like this, which allow me to share my favorite book series with my son. I adore the Elephant & Piggie Like Reading! series. Itā€™s an early-reader series created and co-edited by Mo Willems. The series features exciting new stories from renowned, award-winning children’s book authors and illustrators.

We just got the latest edition of these books called Harold & Hog Pretend for Real!Ā It is the 6thĀ book in the ā€œElephant & Piggie Like Reading!ā€ series. It came out on May 7, 2019 and is recommended for ages 6-8.

The book is about Hog and Harold. Itā€™s like an alternate universe version of Elephant and Piggie! Harold and Hog are best friends and the book follows their friendship and if they can survive a game of pretending to be Elephant & Piggie.

We received that book, some Elephant and Piggie photo props and this amazing Elephant and Piggie Sidewalk Chalk.

Having this book and these fun items really helped make our story and play time all the more fun!

These books are for kids a bit older, but I love to read them to him any way. He loves the illustrations in these books. Weā€™ll go through the books as I read them and heā€™ll point at the photos.

Iā€™ll say Hog or Piggie when he points to the pig. It helps him learn a wider vocabulary from an early age. Iā€™m so thankful to share a love of books and reading with my son. He seems to love books too, which Iā€™m also thankful for!

He hasnā€™t quite mastered photo props or taking pictures yet, so itā€™s a battle to catch him smiling in a photo. I donā€™t mind because heā€™s still curious about everything. Heā€™s also still very cute even when heā€™s not smiling.

Iā€™m just thankful for a baby who is happy, healthy, and loves to discover new things! We made it a point to take time to write out what other things we were thankful for during Thank-O-Rama.

We wrote it on this DIY chalkboard we put up in his room. How cute is this Elephant & Piggie-shaped chalk?

I of course had to write for our little man, since he canā€™t quite do that himself yet.

He did love the chalk because they were some of his favorite book characters. He also has never touched chalk before, so he was beyond fascinated by the texture and feel.

I took the time to draw him a little Elephant and Piggie on the chalkboard along with what weā€™re grateful and thankful for.

It looks so cute hung up on the wall in his room. Itā€™s a nice reminder to have hanging so we can remember what weā€™re thankful for each day. We can switch it up daily and write whatever weā€™re feeling especially thankful for in that moment.

Iā€™ve used the word thankful a million times in this post Iā€™m sure, but I canā€™t really find another word to best describe how great it feels to be able to spend these magical moments with this little guy. Itā€™s something Iā€™m so happy and proud I get to do each day. Itā€™s something I donā€™t take for granted and I thank my lucky stars for each day.

Even though Thank-O-Rama may be over, weā€™re practicing our own daily Thank-O-Rama each day during our play and reading time!

Iā€™m thrilled to be able to do it with Elephant & Piggie and some amazing books along the way!
