You all know que estoy Orgullosa de ser un Nueva Latina! As Latinas living in the U.S., we all know the complexities of balancing “two worlds”: one that holds onto our cultural roots while the other immerses into our American life. As Orgullosa would say – we are the “Nueva Latina”.
If you haven’t heard, Orgullosa’s Nueva Latina initiative is a first-of-its-kind platform that empowers Latinas to define what it means to be a bicultural, modern Latina, a Nueva Latina, by capturing real-life voices, stories and experiences solicited from the community. Orgullosa and Latina writer and director, Linda Nieves-Powell created the Nueva Latina monologues, five engaging and heartfelt monologues that showcase the many different struggles and triumphs Latinas face while trying to find balance between their American and Latino cultures.
We’re so excited that Orgullosa and Pampers Latino have joined together for the fourth installment of the Nueva Latina Monologues, “Mi Familia.” This monologue introduces the protagonist, Isabel, who is happily married, raising biracial children and her desire to instill her traditions into her children. To continue the celebration of Mamá, Pampers is thanking babies for the life-changing love they give moms each and every day by donating diapers to little ones in need. With your help, Pampers will give away 1 million diapers to families in need. From May 2nd through May 25th, for every share of the #ThanksBaby YouTube video (www.youtube.com/Pampers), which goes live on May 2nd, Pampers will donate one diaper to Feeding America.
Join Latina Mom Bloggers, Orgullosa, and Pampers on Tuesday, May 6th from 9-10 pm ET to celebrate Mother’s Day and for a Virtual Baby Shower in honor of Despierta América news anchor, Satcha Pretto. She is having her first baby – a baby boy – in July so we thought it would be fun to “shower” her with advice and tips on how to raise a child in a multicultural home and pass down traditions. Of course, no baby shower would be complete without party favors! We’ll be giving away lots of prizes, including free diapers and wipes!
