Hey All!

As cold and flu season is upon us, it’s time to take every extra precaution to keep our family healthy. Colds can hit our family hard as one of us usually brings home a cold from one of our jobs or from school. The cold usually spreads itself through out the whole house. This past year we didn’t get hit so hard as I started preparing for the yucky season and teaching my family tips and tricks to help stay healthy during the flu season.

Here are a few ways I’ve learned to minimize the spread of germs this time of year.

1. I give everyone in the house portable anti-bacterial wipes and hand gel to carry around in their pockets or back packs. I also make sure to carry one in my bag at all times so we can keep our hands clean and germ free. Scratching your eyes or putting your fingers in your mouth can spread germs quickly. I try to keep everyone’s hands clean as much as possible.

2. We get our flu shots. It’s better to get our shots to try to prevent getting the flu than not.

3. I always make sure we all was our hands when we get home, so we don’t spread germs.

4. I try to make sure our home is always clean and germ free. Anti-Bacterial cleaning wipes make sure all our surfaces are cold and flu germ free. I also make sure all tissues are thrown out immediately.

5. I made sure to get myself information about the upcoming flu season in order to prepare for the season.

I highly recommend you check out this link to Elizabeth Pantley’s ebooklet, “A Parent’s Guide to Flu Season” so you too can get more information about preparing for flu season. It was very helpful to me as it gave me information on how flu is spread and why kids are more prone to get the flu. It’s so important to know how this is spread so you know how to potentially avoid spreading it.

Check out this info-graphic as well for more info on how to prevent the flu:
