Hey All!
In honor of the short film Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth now being available on the Apple TV app, we decided to make some eco-friendly plant holders out of empty water bottles! We love to just make things as a family and being eco-friendly in the process. It’s always great to do indoor crafts with kids to keep them busy. This craft also shows them how to repurpose and reuse items, which can help the environment. Who doesn’t love a DIY that helps the planet? I know I do!
We turned on Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth on the Apple TV app and made this fun DIY.
Here’s all you’ll need to make them.
You’ll need:
- Some empty plastic water bottles. (Can be any empty plastic bottles you have in your home!)
- Scissors.
- Washi tape.
- Hole punch.
- String.
- Potting Soil and seeds or any small potted plant or flowers. You can also use fake plants as well.
First you cut the tops off the bottles and use only the bottom parts. The tops you can use as funnels for other projects.
Next you cover the bottom pieces of the bottle with different colored and patterned washi tape.
Make sure you cover the entire plastic bottle from the top to the bottom of the half bottle.
Next you punch a hole on each side of the bottle and pull one side of the string through each hole. You tie each end of the string with a knot.
Place your soil and seeds or potted plants or fake plants inside and hang!
That’s it! You’re done! How fun are these? Such a cute little way to bring nature inside your homes.
That’s all you have to do to make these! Kids will have so much fun making these with you. They are definitely a safe project that kids can do along with you!
Be sure to watch Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth now on Apple TV+! Here is a little preview of it below!
We’ll be doing a little watch party on April 22nd, 2020 at 10:15am PST. Be sure to join me at that time and watch along with me!
