Make Toy Houses From Upcycled Cardboard Boxes!

This post was was made in partnership with Apple TV!

Hey All!

In honor of the short film Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth now being available on the Apple TV app, we decided to make some eco-friendly toy houses made from upcycled cardboard Boxes! We love to just make things as a family out of things we already have around the house. It’s always great to craft with kids to keep them busy. This craft also shows them how to repurpose and reuse items, which can help the environment.

This is such an important lesson to learn and this film helps with learning about the world. This is an amazing short film! Through beautiful animation, this film allows you and your children to take a tour of the planet we call home. It’s adapted from the best-selling childrenā€™s book by Oliver Jeffers and narrated by Meryl Streep. It’s a must see if you have Apple TV+!

I digress…

These fun houses are so easy to make. Here’s all you’ll need to make them.

You’ll need:

  • Some empty cardboard boxes. ( Can be anything you have in your home!)
  • Scissors.
  • Markers.
  • Tape.
  • Colored construction paper or cardstock.

Firs you cut one side of flaps open on the box so there is an opening on the bottom. You next cut a doorway for your toys.

They will look like you see above.

Next you cut the colored paper down to size and tape it around the box. You cut a doorway from the colored paper and then stick on a paper roof with the colored paper.

You’ll draw on some windows and you’re done!

That’s all you have to do to make these! Kids will have so much fun making these with you. They are definitely a safe project that kids can do along with you!

Be sure to watchĀ Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth now on Apple TV+! Here is a little preview of it below!

We’ll be doing a little watch party on April 22nd, 2020 at 10:15am PST. Be sure to join me at that time and watch along with me!

You can get a week free of Apple Tv+ and then it’s only $4.99 after it.

I hope you enjoy this DIY and show as much as we do!
