It’s premiering Friday, Oct. 9, at 12:30 p.m. (ET/PT). Infused with a Spanish-language and Latino-Caribbean culture curriculum, the preschool geared action-adventure series (20 episodes) follows 8-year-old Santiago ā€œSantiā€ Montes, a brave and kind-hearted pirate, as he embarks on daring rescues, searches for treasures and keeps the high seas safe in a fantastical Caribbean world. Following the U.S. launch, SantiagoĀ of theĀ Seas will roll out on Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. channels internationally. In the series,Ā Santiagoā€™s (Kevin Chacon) steadfast and loyal crew consists of: TomĆ”s (Justice Quiroz), his clumsy energetic cousin whose magical guitar can be used to harness the wind; and Lorelai (Alyssa Cheatham), a knowledgeable mermaid who can speak toĀ seaĀ creatures and transform into a young human girl. Together, Santi and his best mates sail theĀ seasĀ on the majestic ship El Bravo, using their smarts, pirate skills and moral compasses to guard their home of Isla Encanto from villains like the nefarious pirate Bonnie Bones (Kyndra Sanchez) and her Palm Crow sidekick Sir Butterscotch (John Leguizamo).

We can’t wait to play pirate with our spy glasses and watch the show! If you want to have your own swashbuckling adventures with this DIY Spy Glass, here is how to make it below!

  • Paper Towel or Toilet Paper Card Board Tubes
  • Clear Tape
  • Hot Glue Gun and Glue
  • Electric Blue, Metallic Red, and Gold Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Gold Rope

First you cut your paper craft tubes down the middle on one side. I used 2 paper towel sized tube and a toilet paper sized tube. You cut the tubes down to make one large, one medium and one small piece.

You then paint the large and medium tube blue and the small piece gold.

Let them dry and then on the two blue pieces you draw some gold and red decorations onto the bottoms of each tube. You also draw a gold and red decoration onto the largest tube. Let them dry.

You then tape each opening on each tube with your clear magic tape and layer each tube on top of each other to make the spy glass. This will allow it to expand and shrink like a spy glass. You then cut some gold rope and hot glue the gold rope to the bottoms of the large and medium tubes.

That’s all you have to do to make these fun spy glasses! Super simple and easy to make. You’ll have endless fun with your kids playing pirate adventures and watching Santiago of the Seas!
