Memories of Those Who Helped Me Succeed!

Hey All!

Today I wanted to share some memories and thoughts about those who helped me succeed in life and get to where I am today. One person in particular that I wanted to focus on was my aunt Sylvia. I would also talk about my mom and grandmother as well, but I was asked by State Farm to just chat about one person who truly aided and encouraged me to have a successful career in what I ever I chose. The first person to come to mind was my aunt. My aunt was an amazing woman who worked long hours as a legal assistant. She was a single mom with 3 kids to support. She worked nights and long hours to support her family and she was the best at what she did. She truly showcased how you could succeed with hard work, drive, and confidence in yourself. I would always talk to my aunt about my dreams and my career and if I ever needed something that my parents couldn’t afford to give me to aid in my career, my aunt would always step up to the plate. She never judged me in any mistakes I made in life and always encouraged me to keep going and to over come any obstacles I faced.

For example before she passed my aunt had bought me all my computers. Literally all my macs that I grew up on my aunt bought for me. I told her I needed a mac for design and graphics since I was going to NYU for film, tv, and journalism and she bought me not only a desktop but a laptop as well. I still have that Mac Pro and iBook laptop even though they no longer work. They are just one of the last things my aunt ever bought for me before she passed and I can’t bring myself to part with them.

I would never have gotten into blogging and learning design and how to write if I had never gotten those computers and had the drive to succeed that my aunt encouraged me to have. I truly learned the value of help from my aunt and she also provided guidance when ever I needed it. Through this help and support, I was able to live life more confidently, knowing that someone always had my back.

Confidence is the feeling you get when you know you always have help. I’m grateful to have had such an amazing woman in my life who helped me in so many ways. I wouldn’t be the successful blogger and journalist I am today if my aunt hadn’t helped me to succeed and encouraged me to be successful in my career. She provided an extreme amount of help and guidance for my career. She got me jobs, supporters and backers for my films, as well as anything I needed to succeed. She was the good neighbor I always had and she helped me in all my future planning. She taught me how important planning for my future was and I made sure to always follow her advice. I miss her every day, but I always keep her memory alive by always striving to do bigger and better things with my life and career. Where ever my aunt is I hope she’s proud of the success she’s helped me create.

Who are the people who’ve helped you succeed in your career?

Like a good neighbor State Farm is there.
