My Favorite Musical Into The Woods!

Hey All!

When I first heard Disney was making a film version of Into the Woods way back when at Disney D23, I nearly cried! Into the Woods is by far my most favorite musical of all time as it tells the tale of what happened after the happily ever after with all your favorite fairytale characters, like Cinderella and Red Riding Hood. I also can literally sing every lyric to this musical as I would have to sing on the steps of the palace as part of my Musical Theater camp when I was a kid.

I’m very curious to see how this film turns out. I’ll be very upset if it’s not done well I admit. It does have an amazing cast including Meryl Streep, Anna Kendrick, and Johnny Depp! You can’t go wrong with a cast like that right? But who knows, I’m not too happy about Rob Marshall directing, but we’ll see. Fingers and toes crossed as I can’t wait to see it!

A new trailer was just released. Check it out below!

Here is a little about the musical if you don’t know anything about it:

ā€œInto the Woodsā€ is a modern twist on several of the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few choice stories and exploring the consequences of the charactersā€™ wishes and quests. This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella (Anna Kendrick), Little Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford), Jack and the Beanstalk (Daniel Huttlestone), and Rapunzel (MacKenzie Mauzy)ā€”all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife (James Corden & Emily Blunt), their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch (Meryl Streep) who has put a curse on them.

Rob Marshall, the acclaimed filmmaker behind the Academy AwardĀ®-winning musical ā€œChicagoā€ and Disneyā€™s ā€œPirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,ā€ directs the film, which is based on the TonyĀ®-winning original musical by James Lapine, who also penned the screenplay, and legendary composer Stephen Sondheim, who provides the music and lyrics. Produced by Marshall, John DeLuca, ā€œWickedā€ producer Marc Platt and Callum McDougall, ā€œInto the Woodsā€ will be released in theaters Dec. 25, 2014.

Starring Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Anna Kendrick and Chris Pine, ā€œInto the Woodsā€ is a humorous and heartfelt musical that follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzelā€”all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife, their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch who has put a curse on them.
