Hey All!
When I was a little girl my family would always go on family road trips all over New York. We’d go up state, to Rye Playland, and to the Hamptons when ever we could. There was always one phrase that I always remember my father saying and that was “Everyone get in the wagon!” We had a wagon as most people did back then. It was the family car and we all loved it. I remember having my own little world in the back seat of the wagon as I spend so much time there. There is nothing better when you’re a kid than to have a big enough space in the back seat to play. You could be fastened with a seat belt and still have enough space to have all your toys right next to you to play with. I will always have fond memories of our old wagon as it was my mobile playground on the road for our family adventures.
It brings back memories when ever I see a wagon. Hence why I’m also super excited to see the wagon is back and it’s better than ever. I’m hoping to start seeing a lot of them now. That’s a bunch of memories to be remembered. The wagon’s cultural heritage began over 60 years ago with the introduction of Volvo’s first wagon in America. I’m sure many families rejoiced when the wagon arrived. I know my family did. Volvo has brought the wagon up to speed so it can fit into the lifestyle of a family in 2014! They created a modern Sportswagon lifestyle with the Volvo V60 Sportswagon.
The Volvo V60 Sportswagon is the best of both worlds. It not only has all the functionality and space that an old school wagon had, but it now has a sleek design and a whole bunch of amazing new features. The V60 isn’t simply a re-purposed sedan with a lifted trunk. It’s designed for purpose, the way a wagon should be. The wide grille and lights form a prominent face. Clean lines flow from the classic Volvo V-shaped sculpted hood, creating strong shoulders that frame the signature tail lights and integrated exhaust.
Here are just some of the new features of the V60:
- Power and automatic everything
- Rain sensors
- Cross traffic alert
- Adaptive digital display
- Active dual xenon headlights
- Headlight washers
- Grocery bag holders (My favorite)
- Tri-folding rear sets ( A heck of a lot more back seat space)
The one feature I always look for in a car is safety. It’s a feature most families with wagons were concerned about. I’m happy to share that Volvo IntelliSafe offers features like standard City Safety, which prevents or mitigates slow moving collisions with smart automatic braking. Optional Pedestrian & Cyclist Detection, with full auto brake can automatically stop you at speeds up to 31 mph if a person steps or swerves suddenly into your lane. Trust us, this car knows what it’s doing and it has amazing safety features.

Let’s bring out the welcome wagon (Pun Intended) and let’s welcome back the wagon in style! This new wagon sure has a heck of a lot of style!

I remember when I was young, one of my best friends parents had a station wagon… she hated it But the wagon sure has come a long way! I think I’d prefer the Volvo wagon to an SUV. You’d still have all that space but a prettier ride. 🙂
My first car was a station wagon 🙂 My husband still loves them!
I would drive one for sure!
I’ve been interested in getting a Volvo because of their safety ratings. We drive 15 & 12 year old vehicles around here so we’ll likely have to replace one of them in the next few years.
We had a wagon too. That’s what I learned to drive on!
Nice! I love the update and the cross traffic alert is a fantastic feature to have!
Nothing Beats the Ease and Versatility of a Folding Wagon from the Wagon Store. The Wagon Store collapsible pull wagon is padded and shaded, so your kids will be cool and comfortable on even the warmest summer afternoons.
I’m not a fan of the wagon but I adore VOLVO!
