My Tricks To Beating The Summer Heat!

I’m sharing #Freshworks in my life as part of a Rubbermaid Freshworks sponsored series for Socialstars™

Acai Bowl 2

Hey All!

Summer is here and it is HOT folks! Yes, I love the sunshine and all the fun stuff that comes with summer, but I really hate the heat. It’s been over 100 degrees at some points all over the country and when it’s that hot, there is not much you can do and enjoy but try to keep cool and stay indoors.  I’ve come up with a few ways to beat the summer heat, which I thought I would share with you today. I thank god for my central air, but for those of you who may not be so lucky to good air conditioning or no air conditioning, I hope what I do helps you stay cool. First of all, I’ve been eating a lot more berries lately.  I can enjoy fresh berries for longer periods of time thanks to my Rubbermaid® Freshworks™. They are a new food storage container that uses revolutionary FreshVent™ technology to keep produce fresher up to 80% longer! Thanks to my berries staying fresher longer, I started to eat more berries all week. I also read some where that berries are very alkaline, which means that can help generate cold energy in the body and cool you down. That’s exactly what you need when it’s hot out! So when you keep your berries refrigerated and cold, then you eat them, you’re getting double the cool down! Once when you bite into some nice cold berries and next when they are working their magic inside your body.

That’s one fun fact I learned and it has been working for me. Hopefully it works for you too!

Rubbermaid® Freshworks Set

You really need to get yourself some Rubbermaid® Freshworks™ if you’re going to eat more berries. In my opinion, it’s the best way to be able to enjoy your berries all week instead of just for a few days. They are dishwasher safe and BPA free. It also has a CrispTray™ that elevates produce away from moisture and promotes proper airflow to help prevent spoilage.

Having fresh berries in the fridge allows me time to come up with fun snack ideas to include my berries in. The blueberries and blackberries are a week old. If these were not in these containers they would certainly be spoiled in about 2-3 days. That’s about how long it takes in my refrigerator. It was very frustrating as it was such a waste of money.

They come in three different sizes (Small: $9.99; Medium: $12.99; Large: $15.99) and each fits my berries and also my lettuce perfectly. Thanks to these Rubbermaid® Freshworks™, We can at least have a week to make snacks with these berries. Besides snacking on berries to keep cool, we eat a lot of salads and recipes that don’t use the oven or event the stove top. We avoid making our home hot at all costs when it’s super hot outside. Fresh no-cook meals are a great way to go.

Acai Bowl 3

I make lots of Açaí bowls with my berries using a frozen pack of Açaí, a banana, some granola, and some berries. In a blender I mix the Açaí and banana. I then pour it into a bowl and top it with granola and berries. YUM! It’s like a smoothie in a bowl, but it’s thicker, delicious, and cools you down! When it’s hot, I probably make one of these every day! I also make popsicles with my berries and smoothies.

And last but not least, I drink a lot of cold water with all the foods I mentioned above. The more you keep your body hydrated, the cooler you’ll feel during that summer heat. If you have to go out in the heat, thankfully your cold berries will be ready to go in the Rubbermaid® Freshworks™ Produce Saver for a cool snack on the road. If you’re looking for a great and handy way to store your lettuce and berries, you need to get yourself some of these asap!

I hope this little inside look into how I keep cool in the summer, helps you stay cool for the rest of the summer as well!
