Nightmare Before Christmas Zero Cupcakes!

Halloween season is in full effect around here. If you follow me on social media, you’ve seen I’m almost done decorating our home for Halloween. I know. It’s only August! It’s summerween! Since we’re going to the Oogie Boogie Bash this year, I wanted to make a fun Nightmare Before Christmas treat to celebrate. Check out these fun Nightmare Before Christmas Zero Cupcakes!

They aren’t too hard to make. Here is the recipe below. You can scroll to the bottom of the post and print it out as well.

This recipe makes 14 cupcakes. First you start off by making your fondant Zero toppers. Work the fondant in your hands until soft. Sprinkle powdered sugar onto a cutting board and place the white fondant in the center.

Using the rolling pin, roll out the fondant to half inch thick. Use the zero cookie cutter and cut out 16 Zero shapes. Place the cutout onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.  Allow the fondant pieces to dry out overnight.

Next day, using the black edible marker, and outline the edge of Zero and his nose and eyes. Use the red marker to draw on his collar and nose. Allow the marker to dry for an hour.

Next you move onto making the cupcakes. You’ll find the ingredients for the cupcakes in the printable recipe card below. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a cupcake pan with liners. Using a large bowl, beat together the cake mix, milk, butter and eggs until combined and smooth.

Gently fold in the sprinkles and fill the cupcake liners 3⁄4 way full. Bake in the oven for 21 minutes and once done allow to cool completely.

Next you’ll make your frosting. Using a standing mixer, beat together the butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and heavy whipping cream until combined, smooth and holds a peak.
Scoop frosting into piping bag. Pipe a thick ring of frosting on top of the cupcake and coat in the sprinkles.

Pipe a dollop of frosting in the center of the cupcake Add a few sprinkles around the frosting and place Zero fondant piece in the center!

Easy to make Nightmare Before Christmas Zero The Ghost Dog Cupcakes!

  • Cupcake toppers:
  • 1- 4.4 oz white Fondant - can be found at Michaels Craft Store, Walmart, or Hobby Lobby
  • 1-black and red edible marker
  • 1-2.5 inch Zero (dog, not the number) Cookie Cutter - can be found on etsy
  • Fondant rolling pin
  • 1- Cup powdered sugar
  • Halloween sprinkle Cupcakes:
  • 1 box of Vanilla cake mix
  • 1 Cup of whole milk
  • 1⁄2 Cup unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 containers of this halloween sprinkle mix found at Walmart
  • 1 1⁄2 Cup of sprinkles into cupcake batter
  • Vanilla frosting:
  • 2 Cup unsalted sweet cream butter, softened 5 C powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 6 tbsp heavy whipping cream
  • 1 Large piping bags with star tip
  • Halloween sprinkle mix
Instructions
