November is National Bread Month! Yummy! #Food

Hey All!

Did you know November is National Bread Month? This month might as well be a Holiday for me and my family as you don’t even know how much we love bread. We literally eat turkey sandwiches for lunch, at work, and for school almost every day. We’ll also always have dinner rolls or Texas toast for dinner. Let’s not mention making french toast for breakfast with our favorite breads. A lot of bread is eaten in this house!

We love whole grain breads and anything with grains in particular as they are so important in a diet to stay healthy. They’re a great source of fiber which is great for your tummies and you should have six one ounce servings of grains each day! If you didn’t know grains can be found in breads, crackers, and even tortillas! And you know we eat a ton of Tortillas in our house since we are Puerto Rican, Cuban, Italian, Mexican, and Native American in my house hold. I know quite a mix, but a whole lotta bread loving cultures!

Since it is national bread month it’s also time to celebrate with a sandwich! Did you know that 2012 marks the 250th year anniversary of the sandwich? Can you believe the sandwich is 250 years old? I can’t!

In 1762, Sir John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, requested his dinner meat be served between two slices of bread because he didn’t want to put his cards down in the middle of a game of poker and the sandwich was born! Americans now consuming over a billion sandwiches a year! That’s a lot of sandwiches!

Sandwiches are so quick to make and you can make so many combinations and combine flavors in a sandwich that the possibilities for the kinds of sandwiches you could make are endless! I personally love any sandwich with Avocado in it and Turkey!

Celebrity Chef Bryan Voltaggio has created some fun sandwich recipes that you can check out at this link.

His Avocado CLT is amazing and so easy to make! Like I said anything with Avocado is for us! We love it in our sandwiches!

And his Banana, PB, and Honey recipe would be the perfect treat for our guests during the Holidays!

Again Celebrity Chef Bryan Voltaggio has so many amazing sandwich recipes that you just have to check out here. These sandwiches look so delicious and a great way to use those whole grain breads!

What’s your favorite kinds of sandwiches? Do you love whole grains just as much as we do?
