Star Wars Death Star Chocolate Balls!

In a galaxy far far away…we made Death Star Chocolate Balls…  Hello Brite and Bubbly readers! This weekend the new Star Wars movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story comes out and I have the perfect treat to celebrate it: Death Stars made out of chocolate!!! Yummy!!! Vanessa got me these super cute Death Star molds. So of course, we had to make them out of candy melting chips. This is an easy treat to make and you only have to understand the mold to be able to work with it. You can take these to the theater with you when you go to see the movie this weekend.

To make them you will need:

  • White candy melting chips (at least 2 bags)
  • Black candy melting chips
  • Death Star Mold
  • Shortening
  • Sprinkles or any else you’d like to put inside.

Using your bare fingers or a small piece of paper towel, spread a little bit of shortening around both sides of the mold. Make sure to cover all areas. Melt your white and black chips together to make the color gray. Follow the package directions to melt the candy. Use 1 whole package of the white and about 1/3 of the black chips in a glass container.

Spoon the melted candy onto the bottom half of the mold, which is the top part of the Death Star. Spoon melted candy into a plastic piping bag. Cut off the tip of the bag. The hole should be about the size of a pencil.

Cover the bottom half with the top part of the mold. Squeeze the melted candy through the hole on the top half of the mold. Tap it about five times after every squeeze to get rid of air bubbles. You can fill these with candies or sprinkles as you fill the mold. You will fill the mold with chocolate at least ten times until is completely full.

Chill over-night. Leave the mold at room temperature for about 30 minutes. You must have a lot of patience to take remove the chocolate out of the mold.

Take out the top part of the mold first by loosening along the edge and slowly removing it. Loosen up the edge around the bottom part of the mold. Use a butter knife to slowly get inside. Give it a lift and let the ball pop out. Is that simple!

You can make a Death Star piece of ice, all you do is close up the mold. Fill up with water through the hold and freeze. You can also make a Death Star candle, which is pretty cool. Use the same process except you will add the wicker in the middle.

I hope you enjoy these awesome Star Wars treats as much as we do!

Run out and see Rogue One: A Star Wars Story now! It’s truly amazing!
