Hey All!

In honor of The MINIONS Movie coming to theaters this July 10th, I decided to throw a party to celebrate. It’s not every day the MINIONS get their very own movie and that calls for a celebration! It’s about time in my opinion. I went a little nuts making MINIONS treats and decor for the party. The studio was kind enough to send me some decor and decorations for the party. It was all simple yellow, white and blue colored decorations. There was no way I was NOT going to turn anything yellow into a MINION! That would be way too simple for my kind of party.

I had to print out over 30 MINIONS on printable vinyl, cut them out, and stick them on the wall one by one so they can spell MINIONS. I couldn’t not have the MINIONS doing something fun in letters for their party. It was a celebration for their movie, Of course there had to be MINIONS every where!

I thought having them spell out MINIONS would be absolutely adorable. I also cut out the word party with my paper cutting machine so it said “MINIONS PARTY” on the wall.

I also made my own MINIONS table runner which you could easily make as well. I printed on cardstock and cut out different images of MINIONS on my paper cutting machine. I believe I cut out about 75 little minions to make 3 rows of minions for this table runner.

With glue dots, I stuck each little minion onto some white butchers paper that I rolled out over our blue table cloth.

To add some more fun colors to the runner, I added some blue dot and yellow washi tape to each side of the rows of minions.

The table runner looked so adorable on the table once it was done.

I also got these cardboard MINION goggles that I cut and stuck to some round glasses with glue dots.

They were too hard to keep on your face with out being glued to glasses. I figured we would have more fun partying if we didn’t have to worry about our goggles falling off.

I put this fun MINIONS beach towel down over our dinning room table bench to add to the fun.

Let’s talk about the table setting and the treats I made, which you can also easily make too!

I had a glass pitcher and I taped some of those cardboard MINION goggles I had to it. I mixed some orange juice and pineapple juice to have a yellow drink inside. Boom you have a MINION yellow drink.

I printed out some MINION eyes and mouths from a free printable I found online and stuck them onto the yellow cups with glue dots. The most simple and adorable MINION cups you can make.

I also wrapped those cardboard MINION goggles around the yellow paper plates and napkins to even make the plate settings look like MINIONS.

For the treats I decided to make a MINION cake, mini yellow doughnuts, and some MINIONS Twinkies.

I can’t even tell you how proud I am of this MINION cake. I had never made one before and I literally did this in a few hours.

I just made it with:

  • Funfetti cake mix
  • Rund 9 inch cake pans
  • White whipped frosting
  • Yellow food coloring
  • Black fondant
  • Bright white wilton chocolate candy melts
  • Wax paper
  • 1 large, 1 Medium, and 1 small round cookie cutters
  • Scissors
  • Silver edible rice paper.

Yes folks, everything on this cake is edible. I made the two round cakes first. I let them cool completely. I cut down the cakes so they were two flat and even round pieces. I then mixed the yellow food coloring with the white frosting.

I then rolled out the black fondant out so it became about a 14 inch strip. I cut it so it had a rectangular shape with a knife. I laid it across the cake down the center. I then cut out a round piece of black fondant and placed that circle in the center of the black strip of fondant. I then melted my white wilton chocolate candy melts and poured it onto some wax paper. I waited for the chocolate to harden a little when I used the medium round cookie cutter to cut out the white eye shape. I then cut out the round silver google shape from the rice paper. I place some melted white chocolate behind each piece so they stayed stuck together. I then cut out the little black pupil for the eye and stuck that in the center of the round white chocolate eye with some white chocolate.

Lastly I cut the mouth from some black fondant and placed it on the cake under the eye. That’s it! You have an adorable MINION cake for your party! People were so impressed with it and they couldn’t believe it didn’t take me long to do.

I made some mini yellow donuts since they were adorable and minion sized. I also turned some Twinkies into MINIONS by wrapping some printable MINION images around the Twinkie packages.

I hung balloons…

And yellow and white pom poms…

I got out these awesome MINIONS Toys to have the kidlets play with and to fill the goodie bags with for our guests. Each person took home a Play-Doh MINIONS Kit, MINIONS Sunglasses, a beach ball, a towel, and a tote bag to bring it all home in.

I even blew some of the beach balls up to play with during the party.

We had to have some MINIONS party games, so I made this MINIONS bean bag toss game with some yellow, black, and silver vinyl. I just stock it on an old wooden toss board game and cut our the circle with a box cutter.

The story of Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainmentā€™s Minions begins at the dawn of time.Ā  Starting as single-celled yellow organisms, Minions evolve through the ages, perpetually serving the most despicable of masters.Ā  Continuously unsuccessful at keeping these mastersā€”from T. rex to Napoleonā€”the Minions find themselves without someone to serve and fall into a deep depression.

But one Minion named Kevin has a plan, and heā€”alongside teenage rebel Stuart and lovable little Bobā€”ventures out into the world to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow.

The trio embarks upon a thrilling journey that ultimately leads them to their next potential master, Scarlet Overkill (Academy AwardĀ® winner Sandra Bullock), the worldā€™s first-ever female super-villain.Ā  They travel from frigid Antarctica to 1960s New York City, ending in mod London, where they must face their biggest challenge to date: saving all of Minionkind…from annihilation.

Featuring a soundtrack of hit music from the ā€™60s that still permeates our culture today, Minions is produced by Illuminationā€™s Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy, and is directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda.Ā  Brian Lynch has written the screenplay for the 3D-CG comedy adventure, and Chris Renaud serves as executive producer of the film.
