Ways to Donate with your Family! Giving on Cents Feature! #Family #Charity

Hey All!

Do you often ask yourself how can my family give to others when we’re pretty tight on Money ourselves? Well the answer is you can! You just have to look around you and see that there are opportunities right in your own home for everyone in your family to give.

For example

If you have an at home Stockpile and you fear something may go bad before your family can get to eating it you can donate items to your local church food bank or homeless shelter. Why let good food go to waste when someone else can eat it.

If you have to make room for all those gifts and clothing your family got over the Holidays, then clean out your closets and give the clothing that doesn’t fit or that you haven’t worn in 6 months! If you haven’t worn it in six months the odds are you probably will never wear it. This is something I do every year. I often feel ashamed finding clothing in my closet with the tags still on. I know that these items can go to someone who will actually need and use them. It’s also like my early Spring cleaning and I feel so gratified knowing that I’m doing something to try to help others.

You can take the clothes to your local Good Will, Red Cross, or shelter. I’m sure they’ll be grateful for the donations.

You can also do this with old toys your kids no longer play with. Give the toys to toys for tots as I’m sure there are children who would love to play with them!

There is a lot you can do to give right in your own home. You just have to take the time to do it! Hope this helps you to figure out how you want to give!

How do you think you can give on a budget?

  • My daughter’s school allows kids to hold small bake sales in the lunchroom if they are raising money for a charity they have selected. We bake a couple of batches or cupcakes (or cookies or rice krispie treats) and can set up and sell them for 50 cents, turning just a couple of dollars into $20 or more to give to a worthy cause.

  • We are simpliest here so when I buy something like a pair of shoes I already know what pair I’m donating to someone else. Also we have drop boxes at our dumps for local charities so that makes it easy to have a convenient drop off point.

  • What wonderful ideas and so easy to do, no matter your personal situation! Just imagine, if one “give” grew exponentially 🙂

So true that we can always find something of value to help another. Not only does this allow someone use of what we may not be using, but also is reminds us that we are fortunate and able to give even when feeling in need ourselves.

  • We don’t have a lot of money to donate, so donating our toys and clothes is works best for us!!

i cleaned my house at the beginning of the year and took the kids to an orphanage, great experience!

  • GREAT ideas! My favorite idea I read on a blog recently…can’t remember who…anyway on Christmas Eve the kids fill bags with toys to give to Santa to take back to the North Pole and fix to give to kids next year! Love that idea!

  • Great, simple ways to make life better for others while on a budget.

  • We donate gently used toys and clothes throughout the year. We also stock up on gifts from the 75% off clearance sales throughout the year and whatever we haven’t used by the end of the year we donate to Toys for Tots.

We donate all the time, mostly to good will. It’s a great way to get rid of clutter or clothes the kids have outgrown.

I love these ideas. We donate several times a year to Goodwill. I have always donated my time at my kids school. Now that they are a little older they both donate their time to our local library. We also donate all our old books to our library.
