Chatting With The Directors of Big Hero 6!

Hey All!

I recently had the amazing opportunity to sit down with the Directors of Disney’s Big Hero 6 Don Hall and Chris Williams. It was an awesome opportunity to pick their brains about the film.

I of course wanted to know if they saw any similarities between the character Go Go in the film and Disney’s Tron.

Don:
Really you think there is a similarity? I guess she does, but she looked more Tron like I would say when we first started out. She had a black costume at first and we did realize she looked a little too Tron like, so we switched it up and made her look the way you see her now on the film.

I still thought she looked like an homage to Tron. They said it wasn’t intentional unfortunately. I thought it would have been amazing if they did an homage to Tron as who doesn’t love Tron? I do!

I wanted to know why they didn’t really stick to the comics?

Don and Chris:
D:Well we wanted to create a different story with these characters.
C:Marvel and Disney were really great in letting us really run with our own story. We had something different in mind for these characters and we’re glad Disney thought it was a good idea as well.

If you have seen the film you’ll know there is a little tribute to Stan Lee in the film. Even though this isn’t a Marvel film, it sticks true to keeping the tradition of having Stan Lee pop up in a fun way. I of course wanted to know if Stan knew he was in the film.

Don:
Yes he’s aware of his cameo! He’s very happy to be in the film

I made Don and Chris aware that their is a very recognizable Japanese Anime character on the walls of Hiro’s bedroom and I wanted to know if that was intentional and did they want to pay homage to these famous characters and surprisingly enough they didn’t know these characters were there!
