Beating Those Summer Sun Burns!

Backyard Catching Rays

Hey All!

With summer in full swing, you may be tempted to lay out all day in the sun to catch some summer rays. I know I am and with my fair skin, I probably should be more careful about staying in the sun too long. Sometimes I forget to reapply my sunscreen after a few hours and I pay the price by getting a wicked bad sun burn. This happened to me recently when I was shooting the photos you see above. We were shooting outside in over 90 degree weather for hours and I forgot to put more sunscreen on my arms after a few wardrobe changes. By the time we were done with the shoot, my arms were bright red and I was in serious pain. I could barely move my arms for weeks! Thankfully, I had a lot of goodies from CVS Pharmacy to help heal and ease the pain of my sun burn. I love that I live near a CVS Pharmacy, so if I get a sun burn, I can easily run down the block snag anything I need.

I also manage to snag a lot of what I need for free using their ExtraCare Rewards program and CVS Pharmacy app. If you don’t live around the corner from a CVS Pharmacy, that’s no problem. You can choose for your favorite CVS essentials online via the CVS Pharmacy app and enjoy free shipping on orders over $49. Or, if you’re looking to see if a particular product is available at your local CVS Pharmacy, the app will check the store inventory for you. I love and use both of these often. I’m sure you all have an ExtraCare Rewards program card if you shop at CVS Pharmacy. Mine is run down from how much I use it and from always being readily available on my key chain. I always scan my card at the magic coupon machine as soon as I get in the store and when I’m checking out. Needless to say, I’m always at CVS and get a lot of rewards!

There are a few essentials I needed from CVS when I got my sun burn recently and they included VS Aftersun Cooling Gel With Lidocaine Aloe Vera. This helped me sooth & heal my skin. It also cooled down my skin at the same time. I used tons of this on my skin as my arms felt constantly hot with my sun burn.

Some other great products I used on my sun burn were CVS Health Manuka Honey Adhesive padsl. These are great for providing cooling and soothing relief for burns. If you manage to get an open wound and sun burn you can use Anto-Microbial Silver Wound Gel to hydrates the wound. It also helps minimize the appearance of scarring on your skin.

Another trick I learned from being super uncomfortable with my sun burn was to rub coconut oil on my skin and lips. It’s not only good for cooking with, it’s also great for moisturizing your skin with. A lot of lotions and lip balms contain coconut oil, so there is nothing wrong with rubbing some on your skin and lips to keep your skin moisturized. It’s also widely used as a gentle conditioner for hair. Talk about a multi-purpose product!

When my sun burn was super tender and painful those first few days, I took some CVS Health Pain Relief to ease some of the pain. I also took some of my favorite chewable CVS Health Hair, Skin, and Nails vitamins. It doesn’t hurt to take some vitamins to help heal your skin faster from a sun burn.

With all these awesome CVS Health products, my skin was healed from that sun burn in a few weeks. It’s always a lesson learned to not forget to put lots and lots of sun screen on ever hour on the hour, especially when you know you’re going to be out in the hot sun all day.

If you’re suffering from a sun burn, run out and get yourself some of these CVS Health products stat! They’ll be sure to help your #FindYourHealthy skin and beat those summer sun burns in no time as well.

I’m proud to be working with CVS Pharmacy to help spread the word about how to #FindYourHealthy. All opinions expressed are my own, and all product claims or program details shared should be verified at or with the appropriate manufacturers.
