Hey All!
We’re kicking off the Holidays today, since we couldn’t wait to share todays DIY! I’m legit obsessed with it and I never want to take it down off our wall! Check out this amazing DIY Giant Christmas Ornament Backdrop! It’s such a fun way to decorate your home for the holidays. You can put these as a fun backdrop to take your holiday photos or you can put them around your fire place, for some colorful fun accent decor. You can put these anywhere and they would look adorable!
You can pair them easily with other Holiday decorations you already have, like I did with mine!
They are so fun and easy to make! You’ll be snapping the best holiday picture ever with these amazing giant ornament decorations!
Here is how to make them!
- A Variety of 7.9 inch, 4.5 Inch, and 12 inch Styrofoam Halves. These are half circle shapes.
- Gold, Pink, Purple, Lilac, Light Pink, and Light Blue Spray Paint.
- Scissors.
- Gold Wired Tinsel.
- Mini Round Cake Boards.
- White Bulletin Board Boarder.
- Hot Glue Gun.
- 5/16-inch Hole Punch.
- Merry Christmas Garland, Multicolored Gloves, and Tinsel Garland all from the Target Dollar Section!
First you spray pain your styrofoam half circle pieces in a variety of colors.
Make sure to do all spray painting outside or in a well ventilated area! Let the half circle balls dry completely.
Next you’ll cut the mini circle cake boards in half. I cut four in halves in the size they came in. I cut four down to a medium sized circle and then cut them into 4 halves and then cut 3 into mini circles and then cut those into 6 halves. So I had half mini cake board pieces to fit each sized board.
I then punched a hole through each half piece with my hole punch.
I then cut stripes of the white bulletin board boarder to match the size of each half. I then glued each boarder piece to the hole punch half mini cake board piece with my glue gun. Careful as you glue, cause that glue is hot!
I then cut strips of gold wired tinsel to make the ornament hooks. I cut each down to a size that fit each sized ornament.
I spray painted the mini cake board/boarder piece gold and let it dry. I think glued each to their corresponding sized balls and stuck a gold tinsel loop through the whole punched hole.
Place them on your wall with some wall safe hooks or if you don’t care about making holes in your wall, just use some push pins to hang them.
