Hey All!
As you all know I recently had the opportunity to see Island of Lemurs Madagascar, I also go the opportunity to chat with Director: David Douglas, Writer: Drew Fellman, Producer: Drew Fellman, Narrator Morgan Freeman, Conservationist Dr. Patricia Wright, and the musician for the film Hanitra. There was of course a Lemur also present for the press conference.
When asked why Morgan Freeman and Dr. Patricia Wright are so passionate about supporting the Lemurs they stated:
Morgan:
I have a friend who lives in the Caribbean who actually raises them. I was introduced to them that way. I did not know Lemurs until then and obviously got more information about them doing this film. They are amazing creatures that are obviously in a bit of trouble and they need our help. I was happy to help.
Dr. Patricia Wright:
They are amazing creatures. They are like nothing else on earth. They are so unique and beautiful creatures. Each species is different. There are 103 different species and each one is unique in some way. The main reason I’m so focused on Lemurs is they are so critically endangered. 91% of Lemurs are endangered and I hope with this film we can do something more to help the Lemurs.
I am hoping for this as well. It would be a real shame to know that these creatures are no more due to the carelessness of man.
Dr. Patricia Wright:
Their major issue for the Lemurs is the Forest fires, but hunting has become more of a problem. It used to be the village elders of Madagascar villages would tell the villagers to not eat the Lemurs as they are so much like us, but as hunger rises and the villagers don’t listen to the elders much any more, hunters are becoming a big problem now a days to add to the problem.
The crew of this film truly showcased the beauty of these creatures. I mean who wouldn’t love these adorable animals. They had some stuffed Lemurs on display and I actually have one at home which we love.
We also got to meet one of the Lemur species showcased in the film. It was so soft and interesting. It was smelling my shirt as it could smell our animals. It’s such a beautiful unique creature that deserves it’s right to stay in existence.
It’s a beautiful film and it’s beautifully narrated by Morgan Freeman, who was also a delight to chat with.
I highly recommend you check out this amazing film with your friends and support these amazing animals that very much need the worlds help to survive!
It’s 40 minutes long and Exclusively in IMAX and IMAX 3D Theaters now!
