I was not compensated or paid in any way for this post. I solely attended a press conference and screening of this film thanks to Marvel and Disney and I am sharing this for the benefit of my readers. All opinions are my own.
Hey All!
I have had the amazing opportunity to see Iron Man 3 not once but twice in the theater thanks to an advance screening and being able to attend the red carpet premiere of this amazing film. All those details soon to follow. Iron Man is the character that launched the hugely successful and amazing series of Marvel films which lead to the third highest grossing film to date Marvel’s The Avengers. I know expectations are very high and I’m happy to say this film does not disappoint!
This Iron Man story is much different than the other two films. This story was carefully crafted by both Drew Pearce and Shane Black (writer of Lethal Weapon and writer and director of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang). The story is very much Shane Black’s style as a mystery with suspenseful action and moments of true comic genius. Robert Downey Jr. delivers as always in his role of Tony Stark/Iron Man with charm, passion, and clever spontaneity. Returning also are Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, Don Cheadle as Jim Rhodes (War Machine/Iron Patriot), Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, and of course the voice of JARVIS play by Paul Bettany.
Joining the cast are Guy Pearce (Aldrich Killian, a genius scientist with less than ethical ambitions), Rebecca Hall (Maya Hansen, another genius scientist and old acquaintance of Tony Stark’s), William Sadler (as the President of the United States), and Sir Ben Kingsley (The Mandarin, an international terrorist).
Iron Man 3 takes place a few months after the events of The Avengers at Christmas time. The events from New York have taken a toll on Tony Stark so much that he is unaware of several terrorist attacks by The Mandarin. Tracking down The Mandarin is Jim Rhodes in his newly painted armor with the new name Iron Patriot. In true Tony Stark fashion he publicly threatens the Mandarin and that is where the film really begins. From that point Iron Man 3 becomes a non-stop high impact action movie being driven by a mystery Tony Stark needs to figure out.
Most of the film showcases the genius and resourcefulness of Tony Stark outside of the Iron Man armor. Because of this, Iron Man 3 is not your typical “superhero” flick and that’s the greatness of this series is that it never really has been a typical “superhero” flick. This film continues that tradition in a way that is different but still holding true to the essence of the character. In this way the films in the Iron Man series, much like the character of Tony Stark in the series, has evolved.
Hopefully this isn’t the last Iron Man Movie and I hope we see Iron Man again in Avengers 2, because Tony Stark has become one of the most interesting and relatable characters to come along in cinema in a very long time.
For anyone that loves Iron Man as much as I do, this film is a must see. For anyone that just follows the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this is a must see. For anyone that wants to see what is probably going to be the smartest film of the summer blockbuster season this is a must see.
Essentially if you are going to the theater, you must see this film, at least once. I’ve seen it twice and that is still not going to stop me from seeing it again in the theater!

Can’t wait to see the film. Please consider sharing this url (or tweeting) for a very short Iron Man 3 (and Verizon FiOS) trailer today. All views today help support Science Buddies, a k-12 non-profit. http://www.sciencebuddies.org/blog/2013/04/today-only-watch-exclusive-iron.php
We saw the previews the other day before watching another movie, and I told my hubby that 3 looks better than Iron Man 2. Can’t wait to see if I’m right!
You didn’t say if your review would have spoilers or not so I didn’t read anything after the picture of Robert and Gywenth. I’m so glad to hear that the cast has return. I don’t care for movies that go on to make a 3rd, 4th, or even a 5th part of the movie but it’s different cast members. That just takes away from the magic. I am glad that Don C took over the part of Jim in the 2nd one and now it’s in the 3rd. That makes me happy. I can’t wait to see this movie on Saturday (when I get a free moment away from the house and the hubby can be home, lol)
RDJ!! Cannot wait to see this!
I so want to see this, but I missed the English screenings and fear I’ll have to wait for the DVD. Looks amazing.
I’m so excited to see this! I love the Iron Man films 🙂

I heart Robert Downey Jr and I really enjoyed the Iron Man films. Can’t wait for the new one!
I can’t wait to see this.
His character is meant to be kind of abrasive, I know, but dang it, I find him irresistible. Can’t wait to see it.
I need to watch Iron Man 2 for a refresher.
We’ll be seeing this next week – my daughter is so excited!
My husband really liked the first two, so I know he’ll be happy to hear this one was great as well.
Can’t wait to see this!
