We’re back at Comic Con and here are some of our thoughts!
Hey All!
It’s another year of San Diego Comic Con! It’s a time we have looked forward to for the past 11 years that we’ve been going. This year is a little different as there is a double strike with the writers and actors happening at the moment, which essentially prohibits any of the actors or writers of our favorite shows and movies from attending. Honestly I have to say I welcome SDCC 2023 with open arms! It feels like the old days of comic con. The days where you could just walk into Hall H and Ballroom 20.
Don’t get me wrong, the crowds are still here, but this is the first year in a number of years where I didn’t have to juggle interviews with sleeping outside in the Hall H line. This is the first year I could just walk into a panel in Hall H and not have to worry about a days long line.
Comic-Con was decidedly quieter this year — and considerably less starry. The stars of this con were the legit comic book fans and cosplayers who walked the streets and convention halls proudly in their favorite characters costumes. I will always have a thing for left shark!
Even before the start of the actors’ strike, several studios were already adjusting their plans for SDCC. Studios and networks like HBO and Netflix, who are usually staples at SDCC, now chose to all skip their usual planned events. There were a number of panels that have shifted to becoming fan screenings that are panel free instead. Fans are gathering to preview exclusive footage of their favorite shows instead.
Honestly this year in San Diego Comic Con feels more like an appreciation for Comic Book fans and the Comic Book artists that made this convention what it is today!
I’m enjoying my time here and relishing in the nostalgia of a simpler time!
