Hey All!
Mother’s Day is around the corner and you’re like me, sometimes you like to make your gifts to give to that special mom in your life. I learned how to hand bound some notebooks at a recent crafting conference I attended and I thought I would make some notepads and notebooks for my mother this Mother’s Day. She loves to make lists and take notes when ever she is out running errands. Having some pretty custom notepads and notebooks that I made for her will be a great reminder of me and how much I care about her. My mom lives in NYC and I live in Los Angeles, so any gift that can give her a little reminder of me and that she can use daily is a great gift in my book. I’m sure if you make these for your special mom, she will love them as well.
To make these easy DIY Mother’s Day Hand Bound Notepads & Notebooks you’ll need:
- Heidi Swapp Minc Foil Applicator Machine.
- Heidi Swap Minc Foils In Gold, Hot Pink, and Teal.
- Heidi Swapp Minc Signature Paper Pad.
- Heidi Swapp Minc 5th Avenue Paper Pad.
- Printer Paper.
- Scissors or a Paper Cutter.
- Candle
- Needle and Thread.
- Awl
- Hammer
- Binder Clip Fasteners
- Laser Jet Printer or get Laser printing done at a store.
- DOWNLOAD THIS IMAGE and THIS IMAGE to print on the notepads
First you cut your Heidi Swapp papers and printer paper to 8.5 x 11. The regular size of paper you can run through your printer.
You then run then print your images onto the Heidi Swapp paper with your laser jet printer. If you don’t have a laser jet printer, you can take it to a printing store or kinkos or staples to have them print it out for you.
You then run your laser printed paper through your Minc Foil applicator machine. It should be set to a level 3 for this DIY.
You then cut your Heidi Swapp and printer paper to the size of your notepads or notebooks.
You then clip the ends of both sides of the paper to hold the papers together. You then use you Awl and hammer to make holes along the center of the paper to make the binding. Each hole should be like a half inch to an inch apart.
You then run your thread through the wax and pull the thread through the needle. You double knot the thread.
You then begin binding your book and notepads starting on the inside.
You loop in and out and then pull the thread through one of the loops on the inside and then knot the thread inside.
That’s it! You’re done! You have some super cute notepads and notebooks for mom.
I love them and I’m sure my mom will too when I send them to her in the mail!
I hope you and your special moms love these as much as I do!
