Hey All!

I’m aiding my family in fueling a better future with Got Milk. In case you didn’t know Milk is a great source of protein.  There are 8 grams of protein in every 8 oz glass. Milk also has 9 essential nutrients: Calcium, Protein, Potassium, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, Vitamin A, Riboflavin, and Niacin. That’s a whole lot of nutrients to be missing out on if you don’t have your kids drinking Milk. Milk can also help with maintaining Healthy hair, Strong nails, Preventing risks of cavities/promoting strong teeth, and lets not forget Strong bones. All these things help fuel a better future for our kids as it will give them the energy and drive they need to grow strong in life.

We love milk in our home and we try to instill this love into our family. Heck we threw a Milk party one time! We wore our Tome Leche? (Got Milk?) shirts and had a blast getting our kids excited about Milk.

We try to maintain healthy habits in our family and we incorporate milk into the everyday routine of our lives. We start the day with milk and we end the day with a glass of warm milk. It often times helps the kids fall asleep faster. Heck I do it for myself when I’m having trouble sleeping.

As you can see I try to make drinking milk fun for our kids, because lets face it, if you tell kids something is good for them, they automatically doubt you on that. Since I add sprinkles to the glass of milk as you can see in the picture above it makes milk fun. And those sprinkles have like no calories and hardly any sugar in them, so it’s not bad for them. I also sometimes pair it with a fun donut or I’ll put a little natural food coloring into the milk to turn it blue for instance and that makes it fun for them as well. They’ll also never turn down chocolate milk.

As you can see below sipping his Chocolate Milk with two straws made drinking his milk fun.

Milk is not only drunk in our house but being Latinos we love to cook with our milk.

It’s really easy to make and it’s the most amazing dessert recipe I know that uses lots of yummy milk. It also allows me to sneak the milk into their foods when they least suspect it!

Here is the recipe below if you’d like to make it yourself:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1/3 cup of whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 can of sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup of evaporated milk
  • 1 container of any fluffy white frosting

Directions:

    1. In a large bowl beat the egg yolk and 1 cup sugar until it’s mixed completely. Then Stir in the whole milk, vanilla, flour and baking powder. Mix until a thick mixture forms.
    2. Pour mixture into a well greased pan.
    3. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes or until you feel it’s done. I like to check with a toothpick. You insert a toothpick near the center of the cake and if it comes out clean you’re done. Allow it to cool for 10-15 minutes.
    4. Mix together condensed milk and evaporated milk. Pour the milk mixture over cake making sure to cover the entire cake. Make sure the mixture is absorbed.
    5. Frost cake with fluffy white frosting and add some strawberries and you’re done!

I know all the work I do with my family about the importance of adding Got Milk into our diet will pay off as the kids will grow up with the nutrients they need and with healthy habbits on how to incorporate milk into their diets. They’ll then pass on these habits to their own kids and it will essentially fuel a better future for not only my family but future generations of my family.

I come from a long line of milk drinkers and I intend to keep it that way!

How do you incorporate milk into your family routine? Got Milk?
