Join Us for the Latinas Creating Positive Change #OrgullosaProject Twitter Party!

This is part of sponsored campaign from Orgullosa and Latina Mom Bloggers.

Orgullosa
Hey All!

In continuation with its commitment and effort to inspire Latinas, Procter & Gamble’s Orgullosa program created The Orgullosa Project.  The Orgullosa Project is an initiative intended to help Latinas feel connected to their community by encouraging them to create positive change and providing them with the opportunity to support deserving non-profit organizations that are positively impacting their society.

The Project has selected five non-profit organizations dedicated to supporting the Hispanic community by providing health, professional services, cultural programming, and educational and professional development opportunities.  Orgullosa is giving its online community, mujeres con LA FALDA BIEN PUESTA™, the power to vote for the organization they feel is most deserving of the donation.  The number of votes that each organization receives will determine their monetary donation amount. A total donation of $100,000 will be made among the five organizations. Voting ends June 30th on facebook.com/orgullosaproject.

Participating non-profit organizations include:

The Puerto Rican Family Institute (New York, NY) – a multi-program, family-oriented health and human service agency whose core services include outpatient mental health treatment, child foster care placement preventive services, residential care, crisis intervention and Head Start. (Love this as I am Puerto Rican!)

The Mexican American Opportunity Foundation (MAOF) (Los Angeles, CA) – family services organization whose mission is to provide programming for the socio-economic betterment of the greater Latino community of California, while preserving the pride, values and heritage of the Mexican American culture.

La Liga Contra el Cáncer (Miami, FL) – a community based, not for profit organization that provides free medical care to adult and children cancer patients who are uninsured and/or don’t have the financial resources for treatments, screenings and overall support. The clinic is located in Miami, but services patients from across the country.

Mujeres Latinas en Acción (Chicago, IL) – one of the longest-standing Latina organizations in the country, serving to empower Latinas through services which reflect their values and culture, and advocating on the issues that make a difference in their lives.

Multicultural Education and Counseling Through the Arts (MECA) (Houston, TX) – a community-based nonprofit organization committed to the healthy development of underserved youth and adults through arts and cultural programming, academic excellence, support services and community building.
