Our Thoughts On Aquaman!

Hey All!

I recently had the amazing opportunity to see an advanced screening of Aquaman thanks to the awesome folks at Warner Brothers. I have to admit, I didn’t have high hopes for this film. I was solely going because I LOVE Jason Momoa with a passion and I was curious to see if DC would mess up this film as well. I’m happy to report that this movie surprised the heck out of me. I absolutely loved this movie and it’s been a while since I actually loved a movie.

Here is the gist of the movie:

Once home to the most advanced civilization on Earth, the city of Atlantis is now an underwater kingdom ruled by the power-hungry King Orm. With a vast army at his disposal, Orm plans to conquer the remaining oceanic people — and then the surface world. Standing in his way is Aquaman, Orm’s half-human, half-Atlantean brother and true heir to the throne.

Nicole Kidman plays Aquaman’s mom who is forced to leave him with his father as a child in order to return home to Atlantas. The Atlantean king is after her for running away from her duty to marry him. She is also being pursued for breaking the rules of having a baby with a human. She returns to Atlantas and has Aquaman’s Atlantean brother. She is thought to have been executed and both men grew up thinking their mother is dead. Aquaman’s half brother blamed him for the death of his mother.

The brothers are in an epic battle with each other. Aquaman is fighting to save the world and his brother is trying to destroy it. All the while Aquaman also has to fight the vengeful Black Manta who blames Aquaman for the dealth of his father.

The film is visually stunning and I don’t want to give too much away, but it’s just an all out fun movie to watch. The action is great, the scenes are fun, and the actors really carry this movie!

Director James Wan brings this action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be…a king. The film also stars Amber Heard (“Justice League,” “Magic Mike XXL”) as Mera, a fierce warrior and Aquaman’s ally throughout his journey; Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe (“Platoon,” “Spider-Man 2”) as Vulko, council to the Atlantean throne; Patrick Wilson (“The Conjuring” films, “Watchmen”) as Orm/Ocean Master, the present King of Atlantis; Dolph Lundgren (“The Expendables” films) as Nereus, King of the Atlantean tribe Xebel; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Netflix’s “The Get Down”) as the vengeful Black Manta; and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman (“The Hours,” “Lion”) as Arthur’s mom, Atlanna; as well as Ludi Lin (“Power Rangers”) as Captain Murk, Atlantean Commando; and Temuera Morrison (“Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones,” “Green Lantern”) as Arthur’s dad, Tom Curry.

Run out and see it!
