Hey All!
Having a part Puerto Rican and Cuban and part Italian, Mexican, and Apache’ Indian family, I know quite a mix we are, we LOVE sandwiches. I’m always playing around with different sandwich ideas and when I recently got a new Panini maker it gave me all the more reason to play around with our sandwiches. As you all know we’re on the road to a more healthy lifestyle, so I’ve tried to find ways to cut our calories and one thing I found that could help was Flatout Hungry Girl Flatbread at Walgreens.
I ran off to Walgreens to find some and found some yummy Rosemary and Olive Oil flavored breads. As soon as I saw the flavor of the bread, I knew immediately what I wanted to make. I got some ingredients at Walgreens and the rest I already had at home.
I ran home and immediately began to create two fun SIMPLE sandwich creations. I wanted to make one HOT and one COLD option.
The first was my cold option and it’s my Flatout Hungry Girl Flatbread version of a Turkey Sandwich which I call a Turkey Flatwich!
To Make a Turkey Flatwich you need:
- 1 Flat Out Bread slice
- 2 slices of Oven Roasted Turkey Breast
- 2 slices of Provalogne Cheese
- 3/4 cup of Basil
- 1 slice of tomato
It takes literally under 4 minutes to make and is the perfect quick sandwich you can take with you on to work for lunch or pack for your kids lunches. It’s also a great low calorie alternative to your every day sandwich.
You simply lay out your bread and place your turkey slices as centered as possible on the bread.
You stack on your cheese next…
Then the tomato…
Then you add the Basil and carefully fold the bread over. You don’t want everything to pour out of the sandwich when you fold it over.
And there you have a flavorful, healthy, yummy and quick easy cold sandwich!
For my Hot Panini Sandwich Idea I desided to a Mozarella, Tomato, and Basil Panini that I call the Margherita Flatout Panini!
To make one Margherita Flatout Panini all you need is:
- 1 Flatout Bread slice
- 1 cup of Italian Blend Shredded Cheese which includes Mozzarella
- 3/4 cup of Basil
- 1 slice of tomato
- a panini makers
I got the Panini maker going so it could be hot and ready for my sandwich. I decided to make this sandwich for Dinner so I cut up my ingredients to make more than one sandwich. But all you need is the amount of ingredients above if you’re simply making one Panini sandwich.
First you pour on the cup of cheese onto the FlatOut Slice of bread.
Make sure the cheese stays centered on the bread and try to no have any strands of cheese hanging off the bread. You want to make sure nothing is hanging out or the cheese will melt all over you Panini maker, which makes for more clean up, so save yourself some time and keep the cheese as much inside the bread as you can.
Then the basil…
Then you fold it over.
Then you take the sandwich and put it on your Panini sandwich press.
Now this is the tricky part you have to watch the sandwich and make sure the sandwich doesn’t burn, but you also need the cheese to melt. It takes about 5 minutes and those grilled lines appear on the sandwich and then you have yourself a Panini!
It’s quick, it’s easy and it’s warm yummy goodness on a plate that is healthier than the normal Panini’s you would probably eat for dinner.
How good do these look? I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as we do! The Flatout Hungry Girl Flatbread are my new favorite breads. Want to try them for yourself? In 7 days you’ll find out how you can get your own Flatout Bread to make your own sandwich recipes! So stay tuned!
