Hey All!
One of the things that Fiber One values is the strength and camaraderie of groups. Whether that’s getting your friends or coworkers to support you in your diet pursuits or the power of joining group classes where people support one another and have fun!
I’ve been really wanting to get back to the gym and get back in the shape I was 6 years ago. I was challenged by Fiber One to try some group fitness classes and I was thrilled as this was just the motivation I needed to get myself started on the path to getting back in shape. I’ve always wanted to try Zumba and Body Combat at my gym, but with this blog I have just been too busy to try them. My New Years resolution is to put myself and my health before the blog this year, so I made it a point to make time for fitness.
I headed to my local gym over the weekend and tried their Body Combat Cardio Classon Saturday and a Zumba Class on Sunday. In case you don’t know what these are, Body Combat is an empowering cardio workout inspired by martial arts and draws from a wide array of disciplines such as karate, boxing, taekwondo, tai chi and muay thai. Zumba is a workout that combines high energy and motivating music with synchronized dance movements.
I have to say I was really nervous about joining the classes as I haven’t been to the gym or a fitness class in about 5 years. I didn’t let fear get the best of me and I showed up bright and early each day for these classes.
The Body Combat class was fun, but I wasn’t allowed to snap pictures during the class and it was more of a “I want to kick butt” kind of class. I met some fun people during the class and quickly snapped a selfie to remember my triumph of my first fitness class after 6 years.
The Zumba class I took the following was a lot more fun than the Body Combat class I will say. Everyone was very welcoming and fun. One of the women attending the class even volunteered to snap some pictures of me when I was getting down in Zumba, which you can see below.
I was getting down to the Latin rhythms of the music Zumba uses.
If these pictures show anything, It shows I was having a great time at Zumba.
It was like one big dance party and you could go at your own pace. People of all ages were in the class so I felt really comfortable. The group was very welcoming and friendly and just down right nice. It made me feel amazing and it made my first Zumba class awesome. Out of the two classes I took I’m definitely going to keep taking my Zumba class because it was so much fun and I did get an incredible work out. Who doesn’t like to dance and burn a ton of calories? I know I do!
Thanks to Fiber One for challenging me to take these classes. It’s an incredible way to start the New Year. I’ve gotten the fitness bug now with my Zumba classes and I know I’ll hit my fitness goals this year. This was just the push I needed.
Are you joining any fitness classes this year?

I’ve always wondered what Zumba class would be like. I’m not great with choreography, so I’d probably look a fool, but it sounds fun anyhow!
Not joining any classes but trying to utilize some fitness games on our XBox One. The Just Dance 2015 makes me sweat like crazy and I have yet to try the Shape Up one we just got.
I haven’t done Zumba in awhile, but love, love, love, Zumba! I did buy a set of Zumba CDs for Christmas but haven’t started them yet, but plan on it soon. I think if someone loves dancing they would love Zumba! Enjoy it, Vanessa!
Good for you! I did Zumba this summer and learned I have two left feet. I’m def more of a runner!
I go the gym regularly, but I’m not part of a fitness class yet. I do want to take some yoga classes sometime, though.
I go to Zumba class twice a week and really enjoy my time there. I need to make Body Combat a part of my routine more often as well since it gets my aggression out!
