Check out this DIY Dollar Store farmhouse style home décor with a mischievous message to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
Hey All!
Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve been gone. I pulled my shoulder and it was very difficult to keep my arm straight to type. Thankfully I’m back and I wanted to share a few last minute cute Saint Patrick’s Day DIY’s and Recipes with you. You can easily make these quickly with items found at your local Dollar Store or with items you may have lying around the house. Check out this Easy Saint Patrick’s Day Book Decoration!
You can add any saying to the book spine and it’s such a fun little Saint Patty’s Day decoration for your home. What’s great about this DIY is that it’s sustainable. You can easily pack this away and use it for next year and years to come. You can even change out the bow and paint over the phrase to make it different for every holiday.
It’s so fun and versatile. Here is how to make it:
- Hardcover Books, Three – Dollar Store
- Silk Shamrocks – Dollar Store
- Plastic Gold Coins – Dollar Store
- Rainbow Ribbon 1/2″ Grosgrain
- Craft Paint – White, Ivory, Light Grey
- Alphabet Stamps – Upper and Lower Case
- Ink Pad, Black
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
- Wire Cutters
- Permanent Black Marker
First you gather all your supplies and remove the paper dust covers and base coat the canvas covers of the books with a mixture of white and ivory craft paint.
Don’t over mix the colors and let the base coat be rough, so the dark base is visible through the paint. Set aside to dry.
Next you dry brush light grey paint around the sides and edges of the books, in places that wear would naturally occur. Set aside to dry. Using both the upper- and lower-case alphabet stamps, select the message LET THE SHENANIGANS BEGIN.
Place the books spine up, tap each letter stamp in the ink pad and stamp on the spine. The irregularity of the stamped letters gives the project farmhouse charm. If any part of the letters does not stamp properly, fix the letters with a permanent black marker.
Next stack the books together and wrap with rainbow ribbon, securing at the center with a square knot and leaving the tails long. Cut a triangular notch from the end of the ribbon tails to prevent fraying.
Lastly, snip off two sections of a silk shamrock bunch with wire cutters and tuck under each side of the ribbon. This silk shamrock bunch was already sprinkled with glitter.
Your family and friends will never know how quick and easy this trendy book stack was to create!
I hope you enjoy this as much as I do for Saint Patrick’s Day! Have an amazing Saint Paddy’s Day!
