As part of the Netflix Stream team, I had the amazing opportunity to send our contributor Salby to DreamWorks Animation Studios to cover a special sneak peek of a new Netflix release Trolls: The Beat Goes On. The Trolls are absolutely adorable and they had a rainbow day planned for us. Thankfully Salby was there to cover for me since I could not attend. Here is Salby to tell you all about it!
Hey everyone! Salby here! I had a chance early last month to head over to DreamWorks Animation Studios to cover a special sneak peek of a new Netflix series launching on January 19, 2018.
We were greeted with tons of delicious rainbow and Trolls themed treats to start our day.
There was also cute Trolls themed decorations around the studio.
DreamWorks and Netflix are coming together to release Trolls: The Beat Goes On. It’s an adorable, musically filled animation that picks up where the first Trolls movie left off. Poppy, Branch and the rest of the Trolls characters work together to build a better friendship and relationship with the Bergens. However, many of the Trolls in Troll Village are still weary that once they let their guard down, the Bergens will round them up for a feast! It’s up to Poppy; along with Branch’s help, to bring the Trolls and Bergens together.
Unlike the movie, the new series is mostly based in Troll Village. As viewers, we have a chance to immerse ourselves into the day to day adventures the Trolls encounter. We see how each Troll character is unique. Trolls like Satin and Chenille, Guy Diamond, Cooper and many more; make a comeback in Trolls: The Beat Goes On! In the new series, we get a peek into their private worlds. And we get a better understanding of who they are. As the new Queen of Troll Village, Poppy’s relationship with the other Trolls is quickly changing. The biggest change happening, is the relationship between Poppy and Branch. While Poppy is the dreamer and always looks at life with such positivity and hope. Branch is the realist and sometimes even the pessimist.
And while he may have been the hermit and outcast of Troll Village. Branch now has a budding friendship and dare I say future romance with Poppy. He’s quickly making friends (in his own grumpy way). And it’s all thanks to Poppy and the rest of the Trolls! Their positivity and hope are slowly rubbing off on him. It’s also safe to say that Branch also keeps Poppy grounded. She’s always trying to make life for everyone in Troll Village better. And sometimes, her dreams aren’t very realistic. It’s up to Branch and the rest of the Trolls to help Poppy overcome any obstacles she may face in order for her dreams to come true!
And while the animation and music are irresistibly cute; the core of the new series teaches kids some important life lessons! Poppy teaches kids to always have hope! And to never stop dreaming. Throughout the season, she herself learns an important lesson as well. That sometimes, in order for you to achieve your dreams and goals, you have to ask others for help. She also tries to teach Trolls forgiveness and trust. She helps them understand that the Bergens can learn from their past mistakes. And that in order for peace and unity to exist amongst the Trolls and Bergens, they must be forgiven. They also have to give Bergens the opportunity to show that they’re changing for the better. There were many more lessons to be learned. And it will be all thanks to Poppy, Branch and the rest of the Trolls!
After watching a few episodes from the new season, we had a chance to sit down with Executive Producer Matthew Beans and the voices of Poppy and Branch, Amanda Leighton and Skylar Astin. During a quick Q&A we received a little insight into the world of Trolls: The Beat Goes on. Matthew Beans, noted that because the new series is mainly based in Troll Village, there’s a lot of new territory to cover. He said, “we deep dive into what goes on in that world”. It mostly focuses on Poppy and all the obstacles she encounters as Queen. It also shines a light onto the ever-evolving relationship between Poppy and Branch. And the relationship with the Trolls and Bergens. We get a glance into the budding new romance of the Bergen King Gristle and Bridget. And let me tell you, Bridget and Gristle are couple goals! They try so hard to show everyone their love! And hopefully this season, we’ll see them perform a duet they so justly deserve!
Trolls: The Beat goes on is set to air on Netflix on January 19, 2018. And I for one am beyond excited for it! I can’t wait to watch all the episodes. The music is fun, empowering and wholesome. And the adventures Poppy, Branch and the rest of the Trolls encounter are not only educational, but exciting! We see Trolls in a whole new world we’ve never seen before. It’s a fun-filled season for kids and adults to enjoy. And I can’t wait to sing along!
